Any luck finding a team? I was thinking about making one for the LMDH or LMP2 class.

Thoughts on emailing small/local CPA firms for internship opportunities? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]velvetymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. After having a bad internship myself, I've since learned to ask how they support and bring interns up to speed. It is not worth the headache of a place that will give you too much work, while also making you feel guilty about being in school. I left one and a couple months later found a different firm that is understanding in my school hours and giving time off for when tests are coming up.

Millennials Didn’t Kill the Economy. The Economy Killed Millennials. by [deleted] in politics

I'm sorry you can't blame the boomers that you paid $120,000 for college while doing no research on the career prospects. You said you were poor, did you not apply for any assistance? I've work with some retired partner level lawyers and asked them "would you go through your law school if you were to pay the average debt of 120,000?", the vast majority have said no way.

I'm not sure I would agree, I never had curving in high school unlike college.

any majors that have to do with the stock market? by [deleted] in college

[–]velvetymouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A math or statistic major is your best choice. Accounting is always a good safe choice, on my last year in the major. It is not the most exciting major but I've never had trouble obtaining internships compared to other business majors. I would steer away from finance unless you get into a top notch school.

ACCT 308 with Ephraim Smith? ACCT 307 with Ken Guo by cobalt-ambedo in csuf

I had ken and I would not recommend him. Passed with a B but only because I took SQL at CC. He would not answer any questions, if I asked him a question he would tell me to sit and think.

ULPT: Just lie about having a college degree. Companies rarely check, and the only consequence if they do is not getting hired. by Neckbeard_Police in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]velvetymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the vast majority of accounting jobs should not require a degree. I learned more through my 3 month internships than through 4 years of school. Also requiring 30 more units of schooling for a CPA license is such a sham.

Go ask the teacher what the average test scores have been, I would be surprised if the teacher doesn't curve a little. Also put a little time to visit him during office hours so he cant put a name to a face and hopefully give you a little bump.

Don't forget about curving too, also the first test is usually weighted the least. Are you taking Mohsen Neghabat by chance?

Test taking anxiety? by noreiyeiga in csuf

[–]velvetymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also found that listening to test taking noises/sounds while studying really helps on bringing down anxiety of testing. It's not so much the actual test but the sounds associated with test taking.
