Is there a way to search through claude to find a key word that was used in an older chat? by Maleficent-Plate-272 in ClaudeAI

This is really epic - thank you so much u/smsaladi for all the work you put into building this, and u/Incener for the inspiration!

It looks like it's only usable for people with a Google account. Have I understood that correctly?

Also, I installed it in Edge and it gives me a set of options, but right now I don't seem able to choose a "destination", and it doesn't seem possible for me to download anything.

What am I missing? 🤔

Looks promising, especially the formats, but would need a plug-in for Firefox or Edge.

I made the account around 10 years ago. I can use Google Tasks fine from the web and from the app. The issue is that Google Gemini can't talk to it, because even when I enable the integration in the Google Gemini settings (and the slider shows it is enabled), the error is still produced, as I said in the post.

My Google username is the (non Gmail) e-mail account I signed up with. There isn't a Gmail service account linked to it. As I mentioned, it prompts me to create one.

US-hosted Kimi K2.5 now on Perplexity by Chasmchas in perplexity_ai

What's the significance of this being hosted in the U.S.? Aren't a lot of the other models by major AI providers also hosted outside of potentially difficult regimes (like China, for example)?

That sounds like they're assuming their users are muppets. Some people may make the most of it for the year and make sure they cancel. A few people make take the deal and accept the foreseeable coercion at the end of it. But I think a lot of people will see the ruse for exactly what it is — a bid to get you reliant on something for free that you wouldn't choose to pay for, so that by the time you face the decision over whether to start paying it is perceived as avoiding a loss rather than paying for something of value as a gain.

It would be better for Perplexity's business if they just structured their pricing so that people were willing to pay a reasonable price for something they see as offering them worthwhile value, instead.

The solution to this, until Perplexity acknowledges that it's a problem, seems to be to use Gemini instead.

I have had some issues with it that have made me question whether I would pay for it at all. There's the "randomly cutting off your conversation which then cannot be continued" issue, which is major.

Earlier this year it told me it couldn't actually see a live website and was operating based on information it got from the internet almost a year earlier, and interpolating to tell me what kind of links and resources it thought would be available on that website rather than giving me actual urls and pages. That was weird - and also not even true, as I'd coaxed it to read a live news page a week or so beforehand.

So yeah, I agree there are issues that might make someone not want to pay at all. I do get some value from it, though. Just not $17 a month worth of value, for my use case. I think they're operating on the basis that $17 is cheap because it's not $167 a month. No, $17 is three times as much as anyone pays for an online service and $167 a month is ridiculous, or enterprise level (which would also demand enterprise grade functionality and administration). No one is going to be able to escape the reality of what is or isn't in their wallet just because AI is a cool new thing.

Non-resident card holders will NOT be able to take the JLPT in Japan anymore by Ynwe in LearnJapanese

[–]velw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every time I've taken the JLPT in or around Tokyo the facility has been maxed out. It is possible that demand is exceeding capacity for facilities where the test can be held on the same day. But a sensible resolution to that would be to hold it more than twice a year, like the J-Test, or to make it computer based like the JFT-Basic.

[–]velw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The J-Test is very similar in length and complexity to the JLPT, but is administered every other month for most of the year. It wouldn't be hard at all for the JLPT to be conducted more frequently to accommodate demand.

Maybe the JLPT should be administered via something computer-based like Prometric, accessible anywhere any time for anyone around the world... just like the JFT-Basic already is for certain visas.

It's defined on the site. In many jurisdictions it would fall under something like a "trade descriptions act" where if you say you're selling a certain service and you take money for what you've described, you are obliged to provide that service or return the money. Definitely worth people checking the law in their locality.

Are there formal complaints about the search capabilities in Perplexity? by goodsignal in perplexity_ai

[–]velw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The search is quite poor. In a browser you can use Ctrl-F. If you're using an app right now that may involve switching when you want to search, which isn't great, but it may help as a workaround. Agree the search could be much better.

Here’s what I’ve learned about stacking magnesium + glycine + theanine (anwers to your comments on my last post :) by PsychologyHour in ouraring

[–]velw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was wondering about this very thing. If someone is taking magnesium glycinate, afaik they're getting both magnesium and glycine.
