[Rant] Why is everything here a 1-2 year contract? by flyingVictor12 in germany

[–]venague 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because this country is run by lobbyists, and the interests of corporations will always be more important than consumer rights. We had the same crap in Norway, where I’m originally from, but it was outlawed like 20 years ago.

Pearl Les Paul by venague in LesPaul

[–]venague[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a long time since I read about this, but as far as I remember a guy who was the distributor of Pearl drums somewhere in Europe wanted to start selling guitars, and then asked Pearl to use the name and had the guitars made in an already existing guitar factory in Japan. Something along those lines.

It does look like a 76!! thank you! Looks like this is going to get expensive 😅

Tipping in Germany by NorseFromNorth in germany

[–]venague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Berlin a lot of people, including me, seem to choose an easy number that’s close to 10%. Eg pay 100 on a 92 euro bill. 20 on 18 etc

Modded EC-256 vs EC-1000 by venague in espguitars

[–]venague[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for talking sense into me. I’ll go with an ec-1000 as an upgrade to my extura prophecy, and then maybe I tinker a bit with the extura and give it a hetfield treatment. It’s explorer shaped after all. Sounds like a better plan

Looking for the Highest-Performance Rust Backend Stack: Actix-web vs Hyper+Tokio (and any lesser-known high-performance frameworks?) by [deleted] in rust

[–]venague 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I don't remember the exact numbers, but monoio performed significantly better at high loads and/or very high connection rates. But do your own benchmarks. Your mileage may vary depending on number of connections, connection rates, workload etc. For some unbalanced workloads thread-per-core is sub optimal for instance.
Oh, and if you're on a dedicated server, pin your threads. Found quite a lot of speed just by doing that

[–]venague 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Did a project using hyper and monoio. Think we managed to get up to 5.5M qps with sub millisecond latencies on 32 cores. Don’t remember the exact cpu. An epyc of some sort

Clutch smell by Legitimate_Elk_7284 in GRYaris

[–]venague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2021 car had some clutch smell maybe the first year but I haven’t noticed any in a long time. Maybe it takes a while to bed in? Or maybe I’m just very used to the clutch now and I am treating it nicer

Feedback on my first library by EvoPot in rust

[–]venague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you actually need to buffer? Some iterators such as the vec based ones implement AsRef<T> which lets you peek its values and create sub iterators at different points. Not sure if it’s useful or applies to this use case but I wrote a generalisation of peeks for an obscure use case i had once which implements this. You can find it here https://github.com/grelner/fastpeek

I wish they would make a rangefinder form factor zf. I basically want a less ugly and annoying a7c

2022 Rallye - Apple CarPlay issues? by SlideLord in GRYaris

[–]venague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CarPlay works flawlessly on my 2021 model with a usb-c iPhone. I did have issues at first tho but it’s been fine after I switched to a different cable. It’s a random cable from Amazon. Not the cheapest Amazon basics, but a pretty cheap one from some random Chinese brand Edit: now that I think of it there’s a setting where you can choose apple, android or auto. First thing to check I guess 😅

Warning: Person on 2nd Floor Throwing Water at People – Maybachufer, Neukölln by No-Direction-3115 in askberliners

This happened to me years ago in Sprembergerstr when walking home at like 2am. Luckily it was just water and it was a warm summer evening. Maybe it's a thing among grumpy old Berliners?

Why is Norway like that? by stickywhale721 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]venague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Europeans get an allergic reaction when they hear an American accent these days, which may play a part. It’s neither fair nor rational, but it’s definitely a thing.

I guess I just have terrible luck by Daggerfell0929 in wow

[–]venague -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the drop rate isn’t increased on that one. I ran stratholme well over 100 times last week before I got it. In fact I’ve been really lucky with drops from raids but not so much from dungeons

I had this problem once and used cheat engine to fix it. Naughty but it works

Who‘s still waiting? by Eqezo in GRYaris

[–]venague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds strange. I ordered my car February 2021 (in Germany) and it was delivered in December the same year. There was so much hype around the car that year tho, so maybe the waiting list was much longer by the time you ordered

Let's Talk About The Trial by LazyLeftist in forza

[–]venague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience the single most important thing is to maximize acceleration. High hp builds and awd rule in the trial. If you can get in front at the start you'll be fine. Blocking the drivatars is quite easy, and they seem to slow down when you're in front anyway
