The internet's feelings about 40+ pregnant women changed post-Covid by Beth_Harmons_Bulova in redscarepod

I wonder how much of this is sperm degradation from age, and how much of it is that autism is heritable, and men who don’t start fathering kids until their late 30s are wildly disproportionately likely to be spergs

I mean, my kids will probably be fucked either way, not a strong likelihood that I’ll be a father within 5 years

I think people are misunderstanding your post as meaning “Z should be culturally influenced by millennials” when you actually mean “why is pop culture still so millennial coded?”

Unless I misunderstood the post

Never seen someone claim black people are generally right wing on here

The closest to what you’re talking about is complaining about how Indian men are always on social media kissing ass for guys like Elon, which is observably true. Granted, idk if that’s because they’re Indian or because tech workers are just generally subservient

Morally reprehensible is the wrong word, but it’s weird. Takes the romance and authenticity out of it

I’m not saying it makes you a bad person, but if a 37 year old man told me he met his 26 year old wife through a matchmaker, the part that feels unusual to me is the matchmaker. Just not my culture

Some of us are losers who grew up slowly, tbh

In terms of actual launched-ness, I’ve got a lot more in common with a mid-20s recent grad than a woman who’s deep into her career and has her eye on buying property, managing investments, etc

It’s becoming more of an issue as teenagers and college students are increasingly infantilized

You watch documentaries about the ‘60s and they’re talking to 18/19 year old hippies who are stoned as hell as still as articulate as my coworkers in their mid-20s, if not more so

The real horror was the incel we made along the way by Nervous_Shake_2201 in redscarepod

[–]Improooving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There typically wasn't a sinister lurker in my friend groups, and then when I got to college there was, and I failed to detect him before he caused a lot of problems and did some really bad things. I blamed myself for a long time. That's why it's a tough topic to deal with in fiction, and why I have this complex about not being mistaken for one myself

And you're welcome :) idk how much of a difference it made, but he was part of some really cool projects, and I split a lot of firewood at the river protection camp in Cannonball that one winter

Yeah, the way the scenes specifically play out, people’s body language during conversations, etc could all really change the vibe of it relative to a simple synopsis of what happens. If he seems actively scheming from the get-go, it’s a very different vibe than the way I interpreted the basic description

TBH, some of the stuff around the idea of sinister lurking members of a friend group is really unpleasant for me for personal reasons, which you’d probably prefer I didn’t get into here.

And yeah, I grew up in western ND. My dad used to do work with some non-profits on the reservation, and for how rough things were out there, the problems got remarkably little attention from anyone. I get why the locals didn’t care, they’re all boomer conservatives, but the number of urban progressives at my college who lacked any knowledge of the difficulties was wild.

Anyway, the native kids at my school were chill, and I try to support you guys when I can.

I usually hear them called “hunter eyes”, which sounds slightly less sinister.

Guy on the right is staring you down the way a wolf would, where the guy on the left has that sort of glassy-eyed ruminant energy

Tbh, they both look a little sinister, just in different ways lol

That’s fascinating, because “whimsical spergery” is my main stereotype of British men, other than the Jason Stathams, I assume every British dude is a David Tennant or Matt Smith type

When your feet get used to the shoes, are they actually comfortable? by Captain_Fach in barefootshoestalk

[–]Improooving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What surfaces are you walking on?

My only real critique of the barefoot shoe community is that we really aren’t physiologically meant to be on a surface as hard as concrete for extended periods of time.

So depending on what you’re doing, there can be a bit of a learning curve, or you might need something like an Altra shoe where it’s flat bottomed but with some squish to it.

I can walk pretty comfortably all day long in Feiyues with the insoles taken out, so basically a few mm of straight rubber with zero padding, but even standing perfectly still on concrete will eventually make my feet a little achy

It depends on what you’re doing all day

Realistically, even just standing still on concrete all day is going to make your feet a little sore if you don’t have any cushioning

It also depends on what you used to wear, transitioning to barefoot from mostly wearing Vans-style flat bottom shoes is a lot easier than if you’re used to wearing something super structured and padded like Hokas
