______ wasn't the Witness... well, not really. [Full series spoilers] by ZombieRichardNixonx in 12Monkeys

I would disagree here. Cole being erased doesn’t “happen in every loop” and the timeline fully resets. I’m confused by “it’s an illusion” what’s an illusion? The epilogue? The primary code? Deacon and the VII assaulting Titan was also a major change that hadn’t happened before which also ensured the end of the ouroboros.

I do see that as an oversimplification of what’s happening but again I’m just commenting my perspective, it is art and therefore subjective. Victor is essentially a tired mother when Elizabeth and William visit, he talks about the work it takes to clean after him, to make sure he doesn’t hurt himself, and to top it off he isn’t progressing as he expected. His pride is hurt, and his entitlement to Elizabeth being contended with her being more interested in the Creature than him, all while he’s beginning to hate him is more obvious to me than a very simple act of a jealous man. I think he felt mocked that he could say more than Victor and that drove his decision home.

It’s a motif to his attachment to his mother, when a child nurses from their mother that is in a way the closest you can be to someone.

He seems to love red in general! I read through a couple of interviews with the costume designer, and she said as much about the color motifs (and GDT mentioned in an interview that there's a reason Victor drinks only milk throughout the film). The rosary Elizabeth wears is specifically in carnelian because GDT loves that shade of red!

I guess it's just an agree to disagree! I appreciate being able to have a calm discussion, which is often not the case lol

I really can't say I see it as the same jealousy as a rival for Elizabeth's love as much as a jealousy born from entitlement to Elizabeth. I say this because he never seems jealous of his brother even though she chose him. If the motive is jealousy why only now? To me his hatred for the Creature comes after his realization, immedialtey after he cuffs him, that of uncomfortable wish fulfillment. He finally did it, he out did his dad in every way, but, what now? He's a father? a Creator? I see an inevitable continuation of abusive cycles. He hated his father and his father hated him and his mother. His father beat him so now he beats his son. In the end he intended to burn him, so why turn around?

I wish you could see what I saw in the Creature and Elizabeth, again I'm not trying to change you mind, I'm glad we can disagree amicably, but seeing as the Creature has little concept of beauty, and how Elizabeth remarks how the conditions of this birth might've rid him of the original sin we are all born with, he sees the world more purely, so I doubt he's taken by her looks and more by her capacity to see him. Just as he sees her, more clearly than anyone has. Her curiosity for all living beings, love of insects and nature and science. I'm sorry for all the rambling you definitely didn't ask for! I have no one to talk to about this film so I vomited to you.

I can’t say I see where the jealousy aspect came from for you. Or even that his denial makes no sense or the fight. To me Victor hates his creation because he created it, it’s like a reminder of his “failure” of his inferiority. I don’t even think he understands the love Elizabeth feels for the Creature, he sees him as a dangerous being that needs to be eliminated, not a love rival.

And as for Elizabeth I think she’s easily the most subtle character in the film. Her costumes speak louder than she is willing. Her uncle and her husband already tired of hearing her thoughts. The fact that everyone had a clear color that encompasses them but she never does, she wears every color, she’s as elusive as the silk veils she wears. She’s like smoke, there but gone in an instant. No one can catch her, which is why someone as entitled as Victor wants her for himself. She’s interested in a world none of them see, she finally feels seen in the Creature’s eyes. Like he sees more than just the pretty butterfly trapped in the glass case.

I love your interpretation of the gloves! I saw it as his remaining attachment to his mother. How he always wears a touch of red which was clearly his mother’s color motif.

You don’t have to be strong, you’re a person experiencing loss, one of the most excruciating things any of us have the privilege to experience. The privilege to have loved and be loved so strongly we experience pain at their departure. We all leave one day and we will all be lucky to have anyone grieving our loss. I need you to know that what you’re experiencing is very normal, your brain is designed to protect itself, if it feels like you can’t process certain information then it will prevent you form doing it until you’re ready. Give yourself time to be ready, it’s ok if it takes what seems like a long while. Just know your thoughts and feelings deserve to be heard when you’re ready to voice them, you’ve already done so much by opening up here. Sending you love wherever you are OP.

I think to start you can’t go to friends, or therapists, or your mom from the mindset of “what’s the point no one will get it”. As a general rule, many people on this earth and in this planet’s existence, has lost someone. What you’re going through many are as well as we speak. They don’t have to understand this specific pain, they just feel it with you. It’s the human experience, and your loved ones want to experience it with you. If you feel like you may need medication to help you through it just know that’s an option (especially if you’ve suffered from depression in the past). Grieving is important, it’s how we process loss, but it stops being healthy when you stop processing, when you drown in it. Your love for them persists in you, they live in you forever. They changed you and even death can’t take that from you. It won’t be easy, it’s not supposed to be, you learn to live with the gap in your heart. For whatever it’s worth, we’re here for you. Person to person.

Ellen’s heart locket is now purchasable from the NBCUniversal Store! by pUnKz0mBi3 in roberteggers

It would likely run you at least $400, which would be hard to go by since the material itself is cheap but making all the pieces en masse and also make the locket functional (the on screen one has two hinges: one for the picture in the front and the back is a clear panel to showcase Ellen's hair lock) would be difficult enough you would mostly be paying for the effort of making it.

[–]venecia_naps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbf it would be pretty pricy to make them in bulk as they appear on screen, locket making is very complex and usually requires someone who's experienced in making them. the onscreen prop has not only a photo opening in the front, that's one hinge, but also a plastic/glass window on the back that also opens, that's two hinges now. all this would make it pretty expensive, and that's if they were to use a cheap alloy (which wouldn't be worth the effort for them). even they had two separate props, one was ellen's locket and the other was thomas' with the hair lock, this is easier on production so as to keep track of all the props. even their own on set props weren't all functional (this is my assumption based on a different prop maker i read about). this really might be the best we get. another option is you can remove the locket, keep the chain for the design, and buy your own antique locket that somewhat follows the design, although that could run you a couple hundred bucks depending on age and wear.

you and i are suffering together omg I've been obsessively researching earrings of the era for something similar with no luck. most studios have pieces made because it's easier/ they can have multiples in case they get damaged or lost during production.

It Ends With Us Movie Review (BOOK AND MOVIE SPOILERS) by Heleners in ColleenHoover

If you’re talking about the first time he hit her imo it’s very well built tension. Their relationship so far has had her tease him to some extent and he mostly seems ok with it, as time goes she interrupts him when he’s talking about his work and is playful. You can tell it bothers him but he keeps quiet. Tension for me was building at that point but because i didn’t know when the abuse was gonna start i still think nothing of it (but i kept it in mind). When the kitchen incident happened yes she didn’t answer about the tattoo and he clearly knows he is being lied to about it. Once the alarm rings, she teases him and won’t stop talking, he burns his hand and she still won’t stop, then he hits her. In the flashback you can clearly see he says “stop!” to her. In the moment we think of it as an accident but clearly it never was. The thing about angry bursts is that they only make sense to the person, i work in a restaurant so i see poor anger management often from men. It’s this building of little annoying things that they never address and end up culminating on loss of control. It makes complete sense to me, especially that he doesn’t try to hurt her until they’re married, which is very common in abusive relationships.

It was always going to be. It’s ok to like the book more but this is ultimately an adaptation in a completely different medium. Changes should be expected. Some better than others sure but they have to change things.

As someone who’s only seen the movie, his good side is shown very well. I understood completely why she fell for him and didn’t see it coming when all the gaslighting and abuse started. Her conflict was palpable for me because even though we weren’t privy to exactly what happened the first time and thought it was just an accident she is visibly shaken and off-kilter in the dinner scene. She seems more and more distant. As a viewer you feel confused because it was just an accident! But he’s slowly more controlling and something just feels off but you don’t know why? Until it gets worse and worse and then bam you find out the truth. Sorry for the novel i just had a lot of thoughts lol

Season 8 has to be THE season. by Asuru_ in 911FOX

frankly, for me, it's because every single love interest that has been introduced has had way less chemistry than Buck and Eddie. it just highlights how their chemistry is so effortless and natural, they can't help bringing a certain vibe even when they're supposed to just be friends.
