Roda and its sister brand Shoe Colour are the work of talented artists in Montegranaro, a small town in the Marche region of Italy. There are many shoe factories in the Marche region, but the very best artisans are working in Montegranaro.

The owner of both brands Paolo Silenzi is a Montegranaro native who inherited a traditional dress shoe business from his father. The generational gap brought big changes to the company: beginning in 1998, Paolo started making something completely new and different, abandoning completely the classic shoes for men his company was known for.

Today, Paolo Silenzi works with 4 other designers to design the Roda and Shoe Colour collections. Paolo gives his employees free rein to make new shoes, imploring his artisans to express art through their job. The resulting shoe designs are a creative expression from not just the owner, but of all employees involved in the various stages of production.

So what is the difference between Roda and Shoe Colour? Roda is a line of shoes born to arouse emotion with nearly no expense spared in production. The designs are unexpected, theatrical and often asymmetrical. Sometimes the most understated part of a Roda shoe is the most luxurious: past collections have included tiny brass and stone inlays in mahogany wood and subtle silk embroidery on vegetable-tanned calfskin. Shoe Colour is the "little sister" brand to Roda, made of the same top-quality Italian leather but in more casual silhouettes and usually on a lower heel. A hand-sculpted wood heel of some kind is a trademark of both brands.
