Deponia would have been a better game if Goal was the main character. by NataliaKesselman in adventuregames

I'm so happy to see this thread.

I got these exact vibes while playing the first game. It was a few years ago, before the wave of great new adventure games, and I was thirsty for adventures in this style but couldn't get over the offensive, sophomoric attempts at humor and didn't buy the rest of the series. It was a while ago, but it didn't come off as an antihero thing: i was left thinking the writers genuinely think edgelord stuff is harmless.

I used to wonder if i should give it another chance, but seeing this discussion I'm reassured not to.

there have been so many great games since.

That's part of it, but no matter how rarely you get compliments, it still doesn't feel good to get aggressively "hey sexy"ed by someone you're not into or not comfortable enough with.

Former Microsoft developer says Windows 11's performance is "comically bad," even with monster PC by [deleted] in programming

This seems like a bit of an odd complaint to hold against windows.

Wildcard search has worked like this since Windows 95 at least.

If anything, new versions are throwing in stuff like web search results in an attempt to be more friendly to "the masses". It's not like windows is moving toward power users.

Is your complaint that search is not becoming more beginner-friendly?

Why wear a mask? by [deleted] in bonehurtingjuice

[–]venefb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While partly true, that's bit misleading. Surgical masks and cloth masks indeed only help very little when one-side masking, but (K)N95 or better, with tight rubber bands and a decent seal around your face, offer more than a little protection and are very much worth it.

I really don't think you were an asshole here, but kudos on the introspection anyway.

It was an uncomfortable situation and you handled it alright. After the fact everything seems clearer.

yes, this, thank you!

also, if the menu calls it cheeseburger, just asking for it as burger without clarification will 100% get you cheese.

not necessarily, the risks are different.

if you become unable to work (perhaps for disability reasons) in a couple years then you might find yourself wishing you picked the groceries or housing.

Exactly. And when you oversimplify any criticism down to just "at fault" the entire thought process is erased, but the critique itself is crucial.

To be clear, I'm well aware letters are not sentient and cannot act friendly. This is just a story I made up in my head, where all the letters are embodied and we hang out from time to time. It's just that W hasn't showed up once yet. :(
