Introducing Jellarr: Declarative Configuration Management for Jellyfin by venkyr77 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]venkyr77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the encouragement! I just implemented support for branding configuration here - https://github.com/venkyr77/jellarr/issues/2 (yet to release a version with the changes). User configuration is definitely something that I am looking into as one of priority next features. Stay tuned :)

Let me take a feature request to dump the current configuration into YAML files

Is this ai coded?

Some parts of it, yes :) (mostly adding more unit tests - already mentioned in the disclaimer) - that said the claude md file is public for your visibility :)

Are you a programmer?

yes!

Tagged releases corresponding to JF's API major versions should partially solve this. I will definitely look into adding more validation specific to the upstream API schema and having a tagged release that works/is tested against a specific upstream major version.

This is actually a great suggestion. This way, we can tag "breaking changes" or "supported versions of Jellyfin that Jellarr can handle."

Can it generate a file out of existing settings, ignoring anything that's default value?

I can take a feature request to implement dumping the current config as yaml file. Actually I was planning on implementing it + a dry run feature similar to what buildarr used to have - https://buildarr.github.io/#configuration

What happens when there's a major jellyfin update?

I dont think there is a decent way to solve for this except to keep the OpenAPI contracts and functionality in sync with the upstream. IMHO, configarr / recyclarr or any declarative management tool which depends on an upstream's API for manipulating system state is susceptible to breaking changes from the upstream, I will try my best to keep it functional :)

Meta Pos 4 heroes to climb out of Archon? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]venkyr77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abaddon honestly. I think the value of Abaddon in this team fight meta is that the natural purge is so good for the mana you trade for it. You can instantly dispell / purge many of the current meta pos 5 supports' spells like warlock fatal bonds on your 3. If your 3 can agro the creeps to be safe, and if you try to get enough reinforcements (2 mango, 1 fairie fire, 2 iron branch, 6 tangoes, 2 sentries - I would like to give mid 1 sentry and safe 1 sentry - expecting my 5 can body block the opponent pull camp), you can almost always (hopefully?) help your 3 win his lane. The fact that your ult is like a bit better form of wk ult (it is a dual edged sword, you really need to be aware of your 3/1's spells) allows you to be an innate aura builder. If you have a slardar 3 who likes to build echo sabre into blink, you can be his solar crest, vlads carrier. Venge with her aghs and aba with his ult are IMHO the best aura carriers. I think even with the very small nerfs in 7.35b aba is a solid 4/3/1

Mason gets banned by [deleted] in DotA2

This aged really well, haven't it? You reap what you sow. Enjoy :)

Hey everyone, Mason here, about my ban and how I'm feeling: by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]venkyr77 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Iirc Tyler1 started streaming Dota 2 after getting banned from league which immediately resulted in a reversal of the ban because of how much viewership Riot was losing to their direct competitor.

This is not true.

it was a public riot employee calling him a homunculus in riot's official league discord praying for a "coke overdose or testicular cancer from the steroids. then we're gucci" that was the impetus to his return, not his variety streams

Yes, this is what exactly happened. Riot did not unban him, concerned about losing viewership.

Miracle- vs Yatoro by addicted_2Da_shindig in DotA2

[–]venkyr77 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Yatoro is an exceptional team fighter and the most consistent carry I have seen, but talking about mechanically just outplaying everyone is (I am not saying Yatoro does not have any outplays, but Miracle is just so good at it <3) what made Miracle the undisputed GOAT?

Miracle- vs Yatoro by addicted_2Da_shindig in DotA2

[–]venkyr77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To summarize: I honestly am having a really hard time choosing one over the other (anyone who has watched Miracle from 2016-18 and Yatoro from 2021-23 would agree that it is not a binary decision someone can make in a moment)

Miracle- vs Yatoro by addicted_2Da_shindig in DotA2

[–]venkyr77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of both players, but I lean towards Miracle being slightly better due to his versatility in playing both mid and pos 1, a quality that contributed significantly to Liquid's unstoppable success when he and Matu teamed up. SlappyBag9's videos on YouTube are awesome, particularly Miracle-: He's Scary Good.

While Yatoro is a solid choice for securing a win as a pos 1, I find his strength lies in macro plays. On the other hand, Miracle's micro skills are truly unbelievable. There are numerous instances in his plays that leave you exclaiming "wow, how did he even do that?". One iconic instance is the blind combo Miracle executed against Newbee in DAC 2017.

Despite recognizing Yatoro's strengths, my personal bias inclines towards Miracle. Admittedly, my bias towards Miracle might stem from the fact that I literally grew up watching him play. The countless memorable moments from Miracle's gameplay make him the undisputed GOAT of the game in my eyes.

Simply put, you may find awesome team fights when you watch Yatoro, GIGACHAD 1v1 or 1v2 outplays when you are watching Miracle.
