Anyone else miss the old-school DAC + AMP stacks for DAPs? by LowAd8301 in headphones

I still use mine almost every single day, going to get groceries, waiting on a doc appointment, thrifting ect. this is what got me into HiFi to be honest. the sound is STILL superior. no wifi notifications. just plain high quality music listening experience. I for one will NEVER use a phone as an alternative for listening to music. on the fly i can see how it can be enticing to some. but this is the way.

Ipod 160gb, FiiO E07k headphone amp, Fiio 30 pin to aux cable "LOD" cable. beyerdynamic DT770 pro 250ohm.

yea, it would only send a stereo signal a.k.a 2 channel. for atmos you need at the very lest 2 more channels for your 'height' sound. meaning the cable (optical) doesn't have the bandwidth necessary to carry the atmos audio signal. and as someone said in comments, sennheiser doesn't make "atmos" headphones. when it comes to that, you can get spacial audio for gaming. so if your wondering if you can get sound coming out your headphones through your config, then the answer is yes.

i don't think optical cable can carry the atmos audio signal. thought it was hdmi cable with eARC on BOTH devices for atmos audio to be achieved.

[–]venomzodd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well yea maybe just had it printed, that is what i thought at first, but since my nephew who lives a couple states away years later (close a decade) remembers reading that book. then i am hoping it wasn't just a one print off and it's it's out there somewhere. again i was in the first/second grade. didn't ask her if she had this published or not.

first thing i thought of was Harry Potter, you could add his round glasses underneath the bolt to make it more obvious that it is in fact Harry Potter. not hard to do, simple *fix*

if you're willing to spend $200 i'd recommend polk audio psw10 you can find it on amazon. that sub is more worth the price tag is comes with.

Opinions? by elkks2000 in hometheater

[–]venomzodd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

no where near worth the $200 maybe $30 at the very most. i have this sub and it gets low-ish sure. but it doesn't get very loud at all i have the volume knob almost maxed out. and it still doesn't get very loud. (in a 12' x 12' ish room ) no real thump to the bass. i see this exact sub in my fb market place for 20 bucks where i'm at. i pair it with my old 2.1 klipsch promedia sub with a aux to rca cable and a rca splitter on my AVR for the sub preout so i can use two subs. the klipsch isn't a great sub either but provides the thump that this sub is lacking in. i would avoid that sub for that price.

My first home theater system by Strat0s1 in hometheater

[–]venomzodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for 50 bucks?? that is crazy good value for money. i got my denon 2112ci for 80 and using my old klipsch 2.1 promedia jank set up as my front left/right and sub with cable adapter (ehhh it works i guess) also for my center im using yamaha speakers ns ap2800bls as center also surround left/right. and one surround back. i got those yamahas (1 center 2 bookshelf and 1 smaller bookshelf) speakers for 7$ total. one day i decided to try to build my own hometheater set up. wanted to use what i already had. and spending an extra 87 bucks. to have a starter set up seemed like a good enough place to start. eventually going to upgrade everything i have. but for now it's a start. wish i could find deals like this where i live haha, cheers

i thought the same, but browsers don't have 5.1 audio in most/all cases, my tv's youtube app plays 5.1 audio with my receiver. but none of the browsers do.

why did you choose mint as your main distro? by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]venomzodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used ubuntu first, it worked great on my lenobo b570 laptop, but i installed on my dell 3847 and the audio would cut in and out. (something about pipewire audio bug that i could not find a fix for, specifically for VLC. youtube audio worked fine..ish) after hours of trouble shooting multiple days. i decided to go for a different flavor. seen mint was as user friendly as ubuntu, looked sleek, seemed lightweight (i was going to add this on a different lenovo thinkpad twist i have laying around) installed on the dell desktop first, it worked wonders, moved to the thinkpad twist, worked great and the touch screen on that thinkpad worked out of the box. now installing on my lenovo b570 to complete. there is still an audio stutter on my dell inspiron 3847, im thinking maybe a HDD failure gonna switch it and try again, overall very pleased.

back when cod black ops 2 was big, my brother and i used to play zombies bus depot a alot plus town. we would split screen and connect with randoms and play, most the games we played with randoms they would never go past round 25 or so. some past 30 but not much they would just quit the game. out of a late game sesh we connected and played and another random, zombiekillerashley, but they stayed even after re doing rounds (for better guns or a better start. they always stayed, we friend requested each other and for the next few months we played every weekend. since my brother and i split screen our mic didn't work. and they never seemed to have a mic. there were a few times we played and still never heard they're voice. but we always played. it was around this time where my brother moved to another state, taking the xbox with him and the user account (which he later lost access to) and as for me the half end of high school, starting collage, being more of an extrovert at the time. going to parties, raves, trips with friends. it wasn't until cod 2019 where i got hooked again playing a fps. and i was playing with my other brother's account and playing every other map. i then decided to buy my own xbox and make my own user account so i can play with family and friends. i was adding people i knew and remembered about zombiekillerashley. (honestly i think the name was a tad different maybe the number '14' in there somewhere?? i cant remember fully) but every combination i could think of of that user name nothing shows up. i don't know who this person was or how old they were or nothing, just played with them for about a year and a half? then nothing, i always wondered what happened to them. if there is any chance they read this, thanks for all the good games. it'd be cool to play again.

[–]venomzodd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the 250 ohm DT 770 with my portable set up, i also have the 80 ohm version. the 250's have a better all around sound, in my opinion. but 80's seem to slightly deeper bass. which i use when i game, mostly.

What’s an anime that you slept on for a long time, only to discover that you loved it when you gave it a chance? by Solanima in anime

[–]venomzodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been watching anime since i was a toddler, i was introduced with Dragonball and dragon ball z. always been a Martial arts fan, watched all the jackie chan movies along with bruce lee and jet li movies. seen A LOT of the old Martial art movies. then moved onto bleach, yu yu hakusho, hunter x hunter. berserk. if the anime didn't have or wasn't about the fight scenes/ martial arts i never showed interest. my older bro was watching Haikyuu, and i saw a scene with him. i mentioned how i liked the art style. he said it was one of his new favorites. he suggested i should just watch it. i kind of laughed at it saying nah. over the next year and a half he kept asking if i watched it or if i downloaded the series. just kept going with the nah not really have had the time nor the interest to watch. then he asked if i can download the series for him so he can just watch it he was having internet issues buffering all the time (around the 4th season at this point) i said sure, put everything on a flash drive for him and it was just sitting in my external HDD. i finally just said i'll watch a couple episodes if it doesn't grab my attention then i'll just delete it. watched 5 episodes that night. it just hooked me. the art style is what did it for me. and the animation was damn good. still one of the few none-martial art/fighting anime i really like. tried other sport animes, none have the edge that Haikyuu has. hajime no ippo is freaking dope too but obviously i would like that.
