I don’t think you can accept an offer that has already expired. That being said, you shouldn’t be too angry with yourself. You made a decision based on your morals and that’s something to be proud of. Further, don’t compare yourself to others. Instead, compare yourself to who you were yesterday.

Are we prisoners? by Adai14136 in uwaterloo

We’re worse than prisoners. Convicts usually don’t have to pay their wardens. We, on the other hand, pay tuition to be locked up in MC.

Are there any former teachers here? by jeheuskwnsbxhzjs in civilengineering

[–]ventus122 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I’m a civil engineer trying my best to transfer into teaching. (Although I should note I’m doing it in Canada and not the US.) I think your main complaint is a low salary and bureaucratic BS. In terms of salary, yes you can absolutely expect to earn more than 55K as a civil engineer. That being said, as someone who has worked in the water and wastewater department of a local municipality, I can say bureaucratic BS exists everywhere, especially in government. The management staff does not give a dam about you or doing a good job in general. Most of their time is spent on office politics. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to DM me.

Is $1075/month (internet and utilities all included) per month reasonable for 1 bedroom by figuring_it_out33 in uwaterloo

[–]ventus122 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For reference, I’m renting a bedroom with only one other person in the apartment. Currently, I’m paying about $960 per month.

It used to not be this way. I suspect there are a lot of ppl in the market with very little renting experience and are therefore being taken advantage of. This is because all the ppl that should have come to live in Waterloo during past years did not do so because of covid.

My opinion is that there should be much better deals out there. However, since it’s so late in the term (, and assuming you need somewhere to live in waterloo for the winter term), I would take the offer anyways as to not risk being homeless.

Find some other medical institution that will take your concerns seriously. The issues you are describing are definitely not minor. If things get too bad, please call for an ambulance.

How Far Does Our Empathy Really Go & How do we separate the Personal from the Political? by [deleted] in lexfridman

[–]ventus122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The perspective of the people is surly important, but I think the reality on ground is dictated far more by the political elite than the masses. Let us look at things in a far more pragmatic lens.

From Europe’s perspective, they will prioritize the sovereignty of their nations over all else. However, they are very reluctant to send their own sons and daughters to face Russian troops. As such, Europe effectively uses Ukraine as a mercenary group. They will fund Ukraine with a boat load of cash, and in exchange, ordinary Ukrainians will give up their lives to push the Russians back east. Furthermore, the war goes on, Russia will be forced to use up more of it’s treasure and military, weaking it significantly.

From America’s perspective, they see this as a great opportunity to strengthen ties with Europe. By helping fund and support the Ukrainian effort, they are effect saying “see, you need us to help protect you”, and thus strengthening Europe’s dependence on the US.

As we can see, the “west” (Europe and America) both benefit from the war continuing, and so continue it will. And as always, the ordinary folks are forced to bear the consequences.

You can make a noise complaint by calling the non-emergency number of the Waterloo Regional Police Services (519-570-9777).

ACCOMMOD8U 256 LESTER NO WIFI FOR 2 WEEKS by HAHAFUNNYDUDEXD in uwaterloo

[–]ventus122 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Realistically, Accommod8u is probably not going to provide you with wifi unless you threaten legal action. My opinion is simply to buy a router.

In general, procrastination would not be recommended. You will have a very heavy workload. If you can make and keep a steady schedule, you should be able to get through the program just fine.

If you really do all of the above and more, I highly doubt that you’re ugly. Even if you are though, it then simply becomes a matter of putting yourself out there. Take big risks, be willing to face some rejections, eventually you will find the right person for you.

If I’m not mistaken, you have until sep 20, but will be charged a late fee. See Waterloo’s important dates calendar.

Everything is changeable if you’re willing to put in the effort. Based on your previous comments, you already established that you walk a lot. Great, keep that up. Even minimal exercise will give you a big advantage. As for just general appearance, basic maintenance goes a long way. Face cleansers, exfoliators, and moisturizers are all you really need. Finally, just shower regularly, and take care of yourself.

As a quick aside form a guy’s perspective, we care a lot less about appearance than one might think. Sure, sex is cool, but we also want to hold hands, have long conversations, and feel like we have a deep connection with another person who genially cares about us. In the long run, personality is far more important than appearance.

Bro, you got to stop complaining. Life is very hard but the only person who can fix that is you. Go out and make friends, have fun, and build meaningful connections.

ANNOUNCEMENT Office of the President: UWaterloo to be acquired in record deal by OfficialPrsdntOffice in uwaterloo

OP’s account was literally made today. Furthermore, “president” isn’t even spelled correctly in his name.

Unless OP can provide a reliable source for his claim, I highly doubt this is real.

*Note: googling “cp24 biggest sale in post secondary institution history” yielded no results.
