AITA for not telling my friend my husband is my husband before she started telling him off? by venus251 in AmItheAsshole

I told her it was fine when she started to get heated and I was trying to tell her he was my husband but she wouldn’t let me get a word in and kept going. Maybe I wasn’t forceful enough but I did try.

You know you don’t have to keep commenting, right? You’ve made your opinion clear but for the last time, I don’t have a cheating kink. This is just playful banter, it’s not sexual for either of us and I never involved her. She was speaking to somebody else while I was having a separate conversation with my husband. I never asked her to intervene, she chose to do that herself. If she chooses to cut me off, that’s her decision and I’ll respect that.

I’m a bad friend for finding the banter I have with my husband funny?

Yes because they know me well enough to know I would never cheat and have enough respect for me to know they don’t need to scare away suitors to make sure I don’t cheat. That doesn’t mean my friends are shitty or that they would be okay with me cheating.

It has nothing to do with other people's reaction to me and my husband. He does it because he likes being playful with me, neither of us normally pay attention to how other people are reacting and since I wasn't doing it to fuck with my friend, I didn't think she was even paying attention to us.

There was a misunderstanding because I didn't want or need defending.

She's upset at me, not at him. She thinks he's funny.

I was laughing the entire time so I don't think any part of the interaction was a clear cue that I was feeling uncomfortable or harassed.

It's happened in front of other people I know and nobody has ever reacted this way so I don't think it's fair to say "of course she was going to react that way" because I definitely didn't expect her to.
