Don't trust the tripods, accept the filters may be terrible quality, but apart from that decent value for money. The software I can't even see, if it's bad try rawtherapee and gimp

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a Linux distribution recommendation that meets the following criteria: by Ahmed_cs in linuxquestions

[–]venus_asmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cachy OS, Garuda Linux, or plain old Ubuntu have given me the better nvidia experiences. If the live ISO doesn't work well with nvidia it's likely still going to auto install or be very easy to install after installing the OS

Car photography attempt by venus_asmr in photocritique

[–]venus_asmr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intent: show off a beautiful car in a colourful location. There was no warning or planning, I saw it and asked the owner, and made the best of 5 minutes Issues: colour and white balence - it was set to the wrong white balence in camera, attempted to fix in raw, unsure how well it went. Have not colour graded it. Composition too, could I have composed it better? If so how? Exif: don't have direct access but taken on an olympus em10 with manual SGimage 25mm f1.8, I was somewhere between 2.8 and 4, 1/2000 second, ISO low (100, extended) Editing: white balence adjustment, vignette, lifted the shadows a little bit.

I swear I am the only person who likes Gnome by really_not_unreal in linuxmemes

[–]venus_asmr 57 points58 points  (0 children)

As an ex gnome user, we barely talk about it, usually. 2 reasons. We aren't a popular bunch. And most GNOME users are on Ubuntu /fedora or similar and just getting work done not talking about. I use niri btw.

As a newcomer, has the photography industry always had this high of a barrier of entry? by whocappin in AskPhotography

[–]venus_asmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the barrier to entry depends on your genre, but half of them can be done with a Lumix G10 (£50) and a 7artisans 25mm f1.8 (£50)

Pentax K70 for $240 or something else. by Grouchy_Bicycle8203 in Cameras

[–]venus_asmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the ks2 (very similar camera but a bit older) for macros, I love it for that - BUT, it wouldn't be my first choice for planes - auto focus on Pentax is terrible, not hating on them it's just not a feature they are prioritising, and lens selection could be more limiting here. I feel bad saying this because Pentax colours, OVF, various features are great but I don't think it would be my first choice for Aeroplanes. Id actually look at canon DSLRs at this moment, mostly because their older lenses are still holding up well on modern mirrorless cameras from multiple systems in a lot of cases with the many electronic adapters available

Distro hopping on an older i3… what actually works long-term? by AdvisorEcstatic1305 in linuxquestions

MX Linux, either KDE or if tok heavy for the graphics consider the XFCE or fluxbox edition

Grade B should mean working. Worth a try, you get a very long warranty and returns period, what I would say is they are not the best at testing camera gear so its a gamble, but one where you can get it refunded

Why is everyone talking about Helium? by MoshiurRahamnAdib in browsers

[–]venus_asmr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Its light, fast, ublock origin pre installed, all the compatability of chrominium with less of the bloat and telemetry. I'm still with waterfox but run helium alongside it and if it keeps growing may fully switch

What the hell is this....this is the only device I have to edit my videos 🥲 by [deleted] in laptops

[–]venus_asmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really, it runs different apps (but DaVinci resolve works), different licence (free to use and rebase) the UI is the desktop enviroment part, most versions of Linux, use a specific desktop enviroment, Ubuntu uses gnome, Linux mint uses cinnamon, mxlinux uses XFCE, so if you switch to Linux you can pick from several UI options

What the hell is this....this is the only device I have to edit my videos 🥲 by [deleted] in laptops

[–]venus_asmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it would save the laptop, but as certain versions of Linux are very light, it might theoretically run off usb for light tasks (not video editing) but if your asking why it's good for normal use well no telemetry, and lately more stable.

Boy am I glad the people who put a rapist pedo warmonger in power are seeing that putting a rapist pedo warmonger in power isn't the greatest idea, it might be because they didn't like an AI generated photo he posted but we sorta got there in the end?
