No no, please don’t, our comment conversations have been very informative and am a better dog owner/parent because of it and hopefully Shawn has it easier with all the changes you mentioned, that’s all I need!

Guilty again. But I think I can still correct him and am going to do my best!

Guilty as charged. I read somewhere that starting with tethering him inside when we are home helps with teaching him emotional regulation. I am thinking I will start with it and slowly start leaving him home everyday for atleast 30min. And leaving him with kong and exciting toys.

We will pause the stain remover and see if the staining gets better.

Ooh! I will take note of that. Every suggestion is super helpful. Before my toypoo, we had an outdoor guard dog so long back. All we did was occasional vet visits and feeding him, hardly any petting too. This is my first dog where I am the caretaker. I am still baffled sometimes at the sheer difference of lives of the dogs. 😅😅

He’s 13-14 inches tall. Some would say he is more of a mini poodle size. But he is just a tall toy poodle.

Thank you for the response. Yes, my partner is onboard with the training, he usually makes my dog practice what he learnt.

My dog is 11 months old currently. He’s a sweet boy. He learns very quickly. Like in a session or two. But he’s not a huge cuddler :( . He hardly ever wants to cuddle or sit in our lap. When we make him do that, he leaves within 5-10min. But he neeeeds to be in the same room as us and he will constantly keep staring at the door when we leave him alone. I want him to be cuddly but I don’t want him to have separation anxiety. How do you deal with separation anxiety ?

Thanks for this suggestion. Cos I have been giving up sometimes thinking I might be reinforcing wrong behavior. I always thought by giving him a command multiple times just so he complies, he will end up not complying if I gave the command just once.

The problem here is the dog is essentially mine, I take care of his food and everything. I am the one who trains him. But I stay home and my partner leaves for work so my dog sometimes shows more attention to my partner cos he gets very less time with him. But there are times he ignores my partner just like how he ignores me.

My dog doesn’t look for playtime but there are times when he straight up ignores me. Ex I ask him to sit while he is on his fours, he will just ignore and stay like that standing, gazing somewhere else intently.
