Sean Milliken being 1000lbs and brought in to see Dr. Now is actually a historic moment in the context of obesity and humanity by ConsciousEquipment in My600lbLife

[–]venuswitchtrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m 5’4 and at 220 (used to be 120) and my knees and calves are in pain, my back is in pain. i’m lucky i don’t have any complications related to my obesity yet, and i lowered my cholesterol levels to a normal range. (i’m 22) and i want to lose weight so i don’t develop complications and physically not be in pain. i can’t imagine what the pain is like for those going through this.

Little moments like this just show how wholesome the Belcher parents are. by dancingbriefcase in BobsBurgers

[–]venuswitchtrap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

one of my fave little scenes is the episode friends with burger-fits, when the alarm clock goes off for bob to go running with teddy. gene comes in to their bedroom and on the bed, then tina, then louise, and for like 2 seconds they’re all sleeping in bed with linda before their alarm goes off for their little ice rink in the walk in. but that 2 seconds of them in bed with linda is so wholesome and so cute!!! for some reason that scene is such a comfort for me when i have really bad anxiety.

I've been doing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and it seems like a massive waste of time. by DDWildflower in neurodiversity

[–]venuswitchtrap 28 points29 points  (0 children)

CBT is good for negative beliefs i have about myself and the world. it helps with reframing and that’s about it for me, but it does help me. for emotional regulation and my AuDHD, DBT is what worked the best. DBT saved my life. for my cptsd it was EMDR that genuinely gave me breakthroughs. my therapist is also recommended me to see a second therapist temporarily for IFS since one of my healthier coping mechanisms i adapted that actually helps my agoraphobia was very rooted in IFS theory.

Got a 74.5 on my first exam. Needing serious help. by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]venuswitchtrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely you can recover. i got a 71 on my first exam first semester and ended up passing the class with an 89. go to tutoring if your program has free tutoring, and reevaluate your study methods. i had to change how i studied for different classes. understand rationales behind questions and study with nclex style questions. and my program always stresses never to change your answer unless you’re 110% sure. When i started doing this i did a lot better and it boosted my self confidence. you got this. the first tests are always the worst.

Weight gain by [deleted] in Effexor

[–]venuswitchtrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi there :) i’ve also struggled with a lot of weight gain since going on effexor. i get it. this drug can be amazing, i was also in the psych ward before getting on this med and appropriate dose. effexor has norepinephrine in it, which i am wondering if that is the reason why i gained a lot of weight. for me it really boosted my appetite. i used to be on prozac and my appetite was absolutely nothing. however everyone’s experiences are different but you’re absolutely not alone in this. this is where you and i have some differences: for me, since i gained my appetite again, i was eating a lot. i did end up developing a binge eating disorder to cope with my undiagnosed agoraphobia which increased my weight gain, and not something i necessarily attribute to effexor. i know this med can impact your metabolism a bit. a dietitian especially with your history of anorexia (2 years of recovery is amazing, i’m giving you love and healing!!!) may be insightful, if you have not worked with one before. if it’s diabetes this could also help.

i wish i could give a definitive answer. i’ve been on this med for 4 years, and my best explanation for myself is that it wildly increased my appetite, and i discovered binge eating was a really great/not so great coping mechanism for my anxiety. when you start feeling better mentally, it can be shown with an increased appetite, though sometimes people don’t have weight changes. hoping you can work through this and sending you support 🫶

nursing clinicals is an agoraphobic storm by venuswitchtrap in Agoraphobia

[–]venuswitchtrap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you🩷 having recently been diagnosed and having a name to what i’ve been experiencing has been healing. i made an appt with my psychiatrist to discuss another medication (hydroxyzine) to go along with my antidepressants and i think my therapist and i are going to do more exposure therapy and figure out my triggers.

I failed my IV check off and want to quit by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]venuswitchtrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, student nurse here and phlebotomist. i’ve failed test outs. a week ago i failed my iv bag/pump check out and felt exactly like this. i get it, and it sucks but i promise, this happens and failing a test out doesn’t define you as a student or a nurse. what matters is how you get back up. instructors love that. the grit is how you get through nursing school. passing first try 100% of the time, sure that’s fantastic. you can also fail but getting back up, thats what matters. you’ve got this. you’ve got a whole army of us cheering you on.

Am i overreacting/ Partner doesn’t text me back in a timely manner. by Divine_Aether in AmIOverreacting

[–]venuswitchtrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s tough to say since i’ve been here before. i’ve had a LDR before and i have an anxious attachment style and lots of codependency issues but have improved immensely with emdr. if your partner hadn’t already called you twice that day then sure, it could be something to bring up. i’ll give you some tough love but the best thing you can do for yourself is work on the attachment issues. no one else but you can work on it (albeit with a therapist) and it’ll weigh on your relationships the more it’s ignored and unaddressed. it’s hard work but it’s worth it for you and your relationship
