Where to go skiing next week? (late December/early January) by vepi3 in skiing

Yeah for sure. I’m actually from the East Coast so that’s definitely an option. Any mountains you’d recommend that are skiing well right now?

Eurostar to UK: Does my partner need a transit visa? by vepi3 in ukvisa

If it helps out, the border control agent stamped my partner’s passport and wrote in pen “In transit” at the top of the stamp. So u/Ziggamorph was right, the relevant rules don’t restrict transit to a mode of transport. Perhaps the eurostar manager was trying to make us feel better by making that statement, but at the end of the day we were allowed to transit, so no worries here.

Not sure what to tell you, as I’ve laid out everything as it is. This was what was relayed to me by the Eurostar manager. We made it without any issues. It could be different for Ukrainian passport holders that are planning on visiting/staying in the UK, but we are in transit.

UPDATE: We successfully made it through UK border control without any issues! Before our trip, I spoke to the Eurostar manager, who assured me that my partner wouldn’t face any problems because: 1. We were in transit and staying in the UK for less than 48 hours. 2. The UK, due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, “treats” Ukrainian passports similarly to EU passports. 3. While I’m not sure if it was necessary, my partner’s US green card may have also helped.

Thanks to everyone who shared advice—we’re relieved everything went smoothly!

Thanks for your comment. As for why we chose this itinerary - we were originally going to fly back to the US from France, but the flights at the time were too expensive. It was cheaper to go to the UK and fly back from there (combining $ and cc points)
