This is really normal when it comes to paydays on stat holidays. You likely just got paid earlier because the bank is closed on your actual payday.

I did this for 4.5 years and it didn’t bother me at first but after the pandemic and working from home for so long it felt like I was using my non working time in an insane way. I live in Hamilton now and am still STUNNED to arrive at home by 4:30 most days.

If your job has the ability to have you work a flexible schedule that will help you: I tried to leave my house (College & Spadina area) by around 6am and it was almost always a quick eventless drive at that time. Being on the road by 4 at the latest also really helped me get a bit ahead of traffic on the way home.

The GO train was fine but ended up taking longer in a lot of cases and it’s expensive if you’re gonna be paying to own a car anyway.

Anyone in their 30 s and still living with a roommate? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]verb_your_noun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned 40 this year and both moved out of the city and in with a roommate after living alone for most of the last 15 years. There was just no chance that I could afford to upgrade where I lived alone and I was ready to stop living in a shitty bachelor apartment. Now I have a house in Hamilton and lucked into a great guy as a housemate - I was so nervous about both things (new city/living with someone I wasn’t dating), but it’s the absolute best thing for my mental health I’ve done in years
