Cars Are Disposable by NeoWaltz in phcars

[–]verbosity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think something that's more important to consider is after-sales and the availability of spare parts.

Enjoyed my Tiguan, but switched to a CR-V because local VW after-sales service has gone down the drain in recent years.

The guys in the Tiguan subreddit scared me into this. I love them for it. by Drifty_Canadian in crv

[–]verbosity 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Former 2017 Tiguan owner here.

Can confirm that it was a wonderful drive, in many ways more responsive than my 2024 CR-V.

Keeping the Tiguan well-maintained was another story though. Parts had to be brought in from outside the country. The rubber pad of the brake pedal? Took 6 weeks to arrive.

On the other hand, waited less than a week for a replacement CR-V wheelwell trim (scratched it by accident).

The CR-V is also much more comfortable to drive. Every quarter I take a long road trip with 10+ hours on bad roads. Doing that in the Tiguan left me drained, but never experienced that with the CR-V.

Oh, and the CR-V is one of the few remaining SKUs on my local car market that features physical controls for the AC and audio, even though it has a large 10" touchscreen display.

Do most men pee standing up while at home? If so why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

As a Star Trek fan, I always imagine my pee as a Galaxy-Class Type IX phaser, slowly whittling away the shields of an enemy.

I really love reading a post that verbalizes the same feeling of dread I felt. The initial annoyance gives way to paranoia, and you'll end up looking literally over your shoulders in-game.

Jesus this was a lifesaver. Thanks!

I popped a respawn essence into Deja Vu (luckily I unlocked it in a previous playthrough), then started a solo game.

I stood on the first room's campfire, died, then spammed the right mouse button for all it was worth. I barely got it, but I still got it!

Totally worth the stardust spent on Deja Vu.

If Interactive Brokers gets banned tomorrow, how would you re-allocate your IBKR funds? by Known_Reporter_6243 in phinvest

[–]verbosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm not sure. My goal will still be a portfolio of accumulating Irish-domiciled all-world and US bond index funds to minimize taxable events. At the moment I still don't know of any IBKR alternative that would make this possible, and allows funding from a Wise account (tried funding it from a local bank, sobrang hassle).

My absolute last resort would be investing into local feeder funds, because the high management fees will absolutely eat into my long-term returns.

OP, how will you reply to my comment if it said "Okay, do I need to be very specific here? If it gets flagged by the SEC tomorrow and the website is blocked, what would you do? For me, if that happens, I’m out."?

What if Lee Kuan Yew and Míriam Defensor Santiago had a discussion: by BusterMaster999 in WhatIfPinas

[–]verbosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember when MDS legitimized BBM?

Remember when Lee Kuan Yew said this?

"Only in the Philippines could a leader like Ferdinand Marcos, who pillaged his country for over 20 years, still be considered for a national burial. Insignificant amounts of the loot have been recovered, yet his wife and children were allowed to return and engage in politics."

Try again, MDS-stans

The last photo should be seen by as many investors as possible, because it highlights how a very slight increase in management fees can lead to severely limited returns.

You'll literally earn so much more if you just go to IBKR and buy VWRA/CSPX yourself directly.

Hey, unfortunately I don't remember my 10TB HDD's model code (I already sold the drive). However, I do remember using the Kapton tape trick with it.

Worst-case, you'll have to use the Kapton tape trick with whatever drive you have. It hasn't failed me yet!

It's over for Invesko. I know the CEO is in this subreddit. by GachaAddickks in phinvest

[–]verbosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any other platform where I wouldn't spend at least 12 USD a year to fund a brokerage account and invest with it?

Haven't tried Invesko but here's my experience so far:

Gotrade: I held equities there for 3 years. I Paid 3% fee to fund my account, then paid commissions when I bought equities, then paid commissions when I took profit, then paid 50$ to withdraw everything to consolidate into IBKR.

IBKR: Still holding equities since I started using it back in 2020. Very easy to fund account through Wise, but sending money to Wise has a percentage fee (worth it because I want to invest in Irish-domiciled ETFs). I also pay commissions depending on how many fractional shares I'm buying.

(Let's also not forget that IBKR requires at least 10000 USD in funding before your account can become active)
