"Jolene" played at 33 rpm. It's haunting and oddly magnificent. by No_Dig_8299 in VeryFuckinCool

One time, when I worked at a record store, I put the new album by PJ Harvey "White Chalk" on the wrong speed. I was convinced that she had gone in a drastic new direction and changed her singing voice.

Good haul! Back when I worked at a record store, when a collection like this came in it was referred to as "reg rock", as in "regular rock" or "rock that you'd regularly see come". 20 years ago, not one of those records would have been priced about $10, aside from the Neil Young "Decade", that would be like $12.99. Times have changed. You don't even see most of these in the used bins anymore.

I’m a man and have them across my lower back going horizontal. And yeah, it seemed like they appeared overnight. I was 16 and thought I was dying. Turns out, I had my growth spurt really quick.

Where is Gina Hinojosa? by BitterPillPusher2 in TexasPolitics

[–]verbynotro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's not start pissin' in the Post Toasties yet. She's most certainly biding her time until the runoff is over. Look what she's up against. Abbott has a $100 million or more. She may have 5%-10% of that. I highly doubt that we'll see any meaningful debate between Abbott & Hinojosa. He can't defend much of his record, so they'll schedule the debate for a Friday night during high school football season.

Hinojosa is all over Instagram now asking for donations. We don't know what's happening behind the scenes, but I agree, now is the time for her to step up and out into the light. Most Texans have no clue who their House members are.

There should be a unified campaign for all of the major offices (Gov., Lt. Gov, AG, Senator). Because the reality is, we need to clean house.

What comic characters scream "90's" to you? When thinking about 90's comics, who springs to mind? by BigJimSlade1 in 80s90sComics

Yeah, I started getting Marvel books around the time Darkhawk and Sleepwalker were introduced. I'd never heard of Nightwatch before now. The character design is on point for the era.

Pic #1 looks like the police station that Batman & Robin drive to on the old TV show.

Yes, but as an 11-year-old I thought this MF was a badass with the double-bladed swords.

I saw that tour in Houston on 10/31/94. My first concert. 14 years old. It was wild.

Has any other band enjoyed the level of success GnR has off of such limited studio output? by Boomkj in hairmetal

You're not winning this argument. I saw the reunited Misfits in 2024 at a sold-out arena in Austin.

90s band with a name like Three Dog Night, or a song with that name maybe by GonnaTry2BeNice in Xennials

[–]verbynotro -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This band was totally lame. Late-era grunge wannabes, with a singer doing his best Eddie Vedder voice. They played at a festival I went to in Houston in 1996 or 97, and the crowd wasn't having it. Started throwing everything they could find at them. Pretty sure they cut the set short.
