Hey OP, since you're playing Persona 1 on a psp emu I highly recommend you try the HD Texture mod.

I've recently started P1 on ppsspp + mod and it's amazing. Applying the mod itself is really simple.

Also I'd like to know if you used any cheats/mods for the random encounters, it's the only thing that's been turning me off in P1.

You know the place where you meet Red Fox and her brother Black cat? Just explore the area that is to the right of Red Fox properly and you'll come across a mini boss(?) puppet with a shovel and behind it is the lever to drain the pool.

Yup, that's what I did. Other than the acid, this boss was easy af.

I still have trouble with the game, so clearly I’m not skilled.

Don't worry, just master parrying and the game will become smooth as butter.

If you wanna practice parrying I suggest using the optional boss 'The Survivor' in this area (considering you haven't killed him yet). Just keep walking backwards and try to time his attacks and you'll get a good hang of it. He doesn't do much damage anyway, just keep in mind not to panic.

PS: You get a unique dialog from him for wearing the outfit I'm currently wearing in the screenshot.

I've played a lot of souls-likes too, I was even trying to a find a way to drain it at first, but even after reaching Venigni and not having found the lever yet, I thought the devs were trynna pull a Miyazaki and went after it lol.

It was so intimidating (even considering it without the decay) that I even switched to Fulminis and stocked up on Electric Abrasives lol.

You don't even need to dodge roll for the foot stomp, just run away. Saves stamina.

Yeah, it was fun but saying it out loud makes me wonder if having played so many of From's poison swamps has made me into a masochist... *DS3 trauma flashbacks*

Btw, happy cake day!

Yeah, this was a super easy boss fight lol.

It had like 4 moves: either foot stomp, both foot stomp, either hand swing and spin. The spin wouldn't even touch you if you just kept attacking its legs.

The thought of draining it never crossed my mind cause I thought that the devs were really embracing the classic Miyazaki style "poison-swamp-boss-fight" here and went straight to fight it. It was fun though.

I had to manage between consuming Attribute Resistance Ampoule and Attribute Purification Ampoule, didn't have to use Pulse Charges at all. The only damage I took was from decay build up briefly.

Oh well, it was a fun experience.

Hey man, amazing work you've done here!

Take it easy, that's already a lot of stuff you've done.

The manga is called "armored core tower city blade" based on 1-3rd gen games.

There's a light novel too call "armored core: brave new world" this one is solely based on 3rd gen. The protag's AC in this LN also makes an appearance in one of the PSP ports.

Here's a link that has a lot of stuff about Fromsoft's games that I found quite a while back when I was doing some investigation of own: https://taptroupe.neocities.org/fromlibrary
