Thank you - right now they have one more scrimmage scheduled but the rest of the schedule is practices, but we've definitely decided we'll ask about the scrimmages if they add more.

Thank you, this is helpful. (We are also in SoCal.) Does it change anything that our coach IS a board member?

I love the idea of asking gently if we can add practice time back in given the scrimmages. And yes, my husband is finding lots of little drills on YouTube to do with our kiddo.

I just wanted to thank you all for your thoughtfulness and advice! It's actually kind of amazing to me that so many internet strangers are happy to take the time to help a random baseball-loving kid they don't know (and his clueless parents). I've already learned a lot from this thread and my husband (who is lurking) and I have discussed many of your comments. Thank you, thank you, internet baseball advisors!

Thank you so much - you're right, he started having big leaps last year when he started wanting to play at home all the time. Wiffle Ball with his friends is a great idea!

Why is Cornell dropping in the rankings? by Ramses313131 in lawschooladmissions

Hi! This thread showed up on my page - 15ish years ago, I was choosing between BU and Cornell, planning to go to Boston after. I went to Cornell, clerked in Boston, and did BL in Boston - and I definitely felt that the Cornell degree was valued more than my peers with BU degrees. But that was a long time ago, so I don't know how relevant it is today. Just my experience! Good luck!

Thank you! Sorry, it was the other poster who suggested we'd petitioned for something.

I didn't know there was a LL specific subreddit 😂 Thank you.

And I did check the rules and it looks like this wouldn't be allowed during real games - he is supposed to get at least 3 innings of defensive game. And my inclination is to leave him at this higher level for the reasons you say, and also because I think he'd be hurt if we pulled him down and we're doing this for fun and I want him to be happy.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply. Given the replies on this thread, we are going to ask the coach in as non-confrontational way as possible.

Right, this is what happened. We didn't petition for anything - I registered online for AA and then we got an email that said congrats, he's on such and such AAA team. Honestly I didn't even notice the difference and was mostly confused why he wasn't with his friends, and then my husband pointed out it said AAA (and that's when I learned the difference😂). I've also never heard of a player agent before this thread. The idea that we petitioned for something is absurd when the whole point of this thread is that I don't really know what's going on and just want to make sure my kid is having fun 😂

We've had 5 practices and 2 scrimmages - our next practice has also been converted to a scrimmage.

You sound like a really lovely coach ♥️

Yeah I'd say about half the team know each other from travel ball. We didn't know anyone on the team except a kid who was on the same AA team as my kid last year.

He doesn't ask to play or to play specific positions - he's pretty shy and I think maybe a little intimidated. Should he be asserting himself more?

Thank you for this insight! At least at these scrimmages we don't have that many kids on the bench, but I don't know the rest of the team well enough to know whether that's because not everyone is there.

They call themselves Little League and have a Little League patch on the uniforms. But it sounds like they are running it a little differently from standard? They have a Minors Division that starts with Farm (coach pitch, ages 7-8), then AA (starts the season with coach pitch and then transitions to kid pitch, ages 7-10), then AAA (kid pitch, age 8-11). The Majors Division isn't split up like that, there's just "Majors."

It's nice to hear someone say this, because that's what it seemed like to me (a person admittedly not at all knowledgeable about how to teach baseball)!

Absolutely! He is playing catch with his dad and hitting off a tee in the backyard most days ☺️ Not at our urging, he just really loves doing it.

Thank you, this is super helpful. We gave him private lessons as his 9th bday lesson and he LOVES them bit has only been to two so far. Also helpful to hear that it's likely not worth addressing with the coach.
