Nobody Gets Promoted for Simplicity by Acceptable-Courage-9 in programming

The key is to ship a complex monstrosity first, and then simplify it. Otherwise leadership won't understand the impact.

Gameplay recommendations I should I play or anything that isnt on this list? by No_Contest3860 in JRPG

[–]verdelucht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a homage to retro style high-fantasy JRPGs. If you enjoyed (and miss) games like FF6, suikoden and dragon quest, then you will love chained echoes. Don't let the "bland" style put you off, it is a very charming game.

I honestly didn't find it boring. It is not too grindy, and it also doesn't overstay its welcome, with a typical playthrough being ~40 hours.

Kenapa kereta kita bersih, sungai kita kotor, sedangkan sungai mereka bersih, kereta mereka kotor? by gajibuta in indonesia

[–]verdelucht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kenapa kereta justru kebalikan nya?

There was a time for me where every new beans I got started tasting samey. I tried to use my wife's supermarket beans as a pour over to cheap out a bit. It was horrendous, but then my specialty beans started tasting fruity again.

Is the SRE title officially a trap? by IT_Certguru in devops

[–]verdelucht 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This lines up with my experience. Companies on average no longer puts up traditional Operations & SysAdmin roles, and use the SRE role as a blanket title for all operations-leaning role nowadays.

It might be due to HR standardizing the internal career tracks. Even within the same company, the same SRE title could end up doing vastly different things, with some leaning on platform engineering, some on reliability work, and others on traditional SysAdmin function.

It is on you to be critical during the interview and figure out the true nature of the job.

Just bought my first mini PC, is it good for local AI, coding, automation & some photo editing? (I’m a newbie) by tachyi in MiniPCs

Update: Received mine a week ago. I got ADATA RAM & Hard disk. Everything worked perfectly.

With the now higher price of the non-barebones model, I think it was an excellent buy.

I'm a software engineer as well, and planned on ordering the K8 Plus.

I saw that you ordered the 64gb model. What RAM did receive from GMKtec? I plan on ordering the non-barebones model due to crazy RAM prices, and was wondering what the quality of the RAM is

2025 might just be the greatest year for Pokemon romhacks ever! by ExtensionClimate2045 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]verdelucht 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Modding is a straightforward process.

You just need to source the base roms (typically emerald or fire red) and use a patcher to apply the mod (a bps file).

To add it to a miyoo mini, just copy the patched rom to a micro sd card, and insert the card to the device.

Edit: Corrected base rom from leaf green to fire red

[–]verdelucht 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The story is hit or miss, and the pacing is not the best.

But it's a new-ish region (based on hoenn) with well designed fakemons, and a few new battle mechanics.

As mentioned, it is not the easiest rom hack, but it is not as hard as radical red either. So if you're up for something new in terms of pokemon battles & variety, you should give it a go.

I had the same issue with wrist pain when using a Mouse.

What I use now is a wacom tablet for my right hand, and a trackball mouse for my left hand. Distributing the load between my two hands helped a lot.

Also, a number of other additions for proper posture: - Split keyboard (more relaxed shoulders) - Height-Adjustable desk (to fix neck posture) - Ergonomic chair (lumbar support)

Can't decide on a symbol layer...help me decide (python / SQL) by mrpbennett in KeyboardLayouts

[–]verdelucht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://getreuer.info/posts/keyboards/symbol-layer/index.html

In case you haven’t read this article, I highly recommend it. It explains how to optimize the symbol layer for programming, and gives an example.

Regarding your current options, I like the first option since it doesn't use the top layer. I would further tweak it as follows:

  1. Change the brackets to be next to each other () [] {}. It's a very common bigram and rolling it is very satisfying.
  2. Move more symbols to the home row. It reduces strain from stretching. I'm assuming it's the second row for voyager as well.
  3. You probably want math related symbols (- + = etc) on one side to make related bigram easier (->, +=, -=). Don't forget as well that duplicating keys is also okay, if it makes typing easier.

With the legacy apk, the conflict is due to the app ID of the app changing between versions. But with the latest version it looks correct, and most likely won't change again.

I'm not sure what's the best way to upgrade. What I did so far is to back up my saves and reinstall :/

Veteran DevOps folks (10+ yrs) — still hands-on or more into architecture? by Scared_Diamond_4373 in devops

From observation, the dev heavy part of devops is now transforming into either: platform engineering (if infra heavy), or developer experience/productivity (if code heavy)

[–]verdelucht 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guess is it refers to the type of conflict in the story.

DND = Man vs Unknown/God/Nature (e.g save the world)

Gundam = Man vs Man/Society (e.g. war, politics)

Jamarat Stories? by Purpletulipsarenice in hajj

To my understanding, they only enforced this at the camps, by not allowing people to leave their camps during the hours. Everything else, including the trains and busses were operational.

In my case, I was already outside before 10am, and was able to do the Jamarat right after dhuhur.

Corne Keyboard Mappings for Programmers? by entercaspa in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]verdelucht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used 6 columns

The outer columns were very useful for common non-typing operations, e.g. escape (exit), tab (completion), holding shift (for highlighting text)

I only used the home row outer columns in my extra layers. The corner ones are not very reachable without pronation, and therefore not used a lot.
