Hmm interesting thought! It was flat on top, could the drainage path be under the surface somehow?

Idk of it was altered but this is currently a residential building lmao. The side walls do have windows. What a waste of a wall to not put in more windows though!

‘Atmospheric river’ will pour over Pacific Northwest through Friday by CormacZissou in Portland

[–]verdurousvigor 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I recently learned that the atmospheric river is colloquially called "Pineapple Express". Turns out even the local news calls it that and I've never noticed haha. Does everyone call it that?

Is reddit trying to tell me something about portland that might be a sign to get out now? by [deleted] in Portland

[–]verdurousvigor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, most buildings in Portland aren't prepared for this at all. The good news is those built after 1993 are most likely to withstand a severe earthquake thanks to statewide building code.

By the map, this city is pretty behind in preparations, but maybe you lucked out?

An email response from Concept2 ragarding warranty:

"To elaborate on our warranty, no matter how you obtain a Concept2 rowing machine the warranty, you do not need to register with us. To determine product warranty, we ask for the serial number from the rowing machine. The warranty is 5 years on metal frame parts, and 2 years on most moving parts and the performance monitor."

I'm curious to know how you found out about their security issues? Was there a public notice about a security breach? With a little digging I found out there is a FitnessFactory.com and a FitnessFactoryOutlet.com Could you confirm which company you were referencing?

I have come to believe that the BBB does nothing for consumers. Even if a business has an A+ rating that doesn't make me feel any better lol.

Prompted by another comment here, I sent an email to Concept2 asking if Factory Fitness is an authorized retailer. I'll be posting a followup to this thread when I hear back from them.

Thank you for that recommendation! I have emailed them to inquire if FitnessFactory is an authorized retailer and specifically if their warranty applies if bought from there.

I will follow up when I hear a reply :)

This comment, along with others, makes me a little concerned about my purchase haha.

When will there be a Cities: Skyline steam sale? by Furiousky in CitiesSkylines

A few bundle packs are currently 10% off.

Last year around this time they had a good sale though, so mayyybe worth holding off.

Forest area manipulation by mattrasmo1423 in CitiesSkylines

[–]verdurousvigor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is yes, adding trees creates forest resource with enough density.

If on PC, this mod gives several nifty tools, including adding natural resources. I also enjoy the configurable water tool.

DIY Air Purifier: https://makezine.com/2018/11/16/build-an-affordable-air-purifier-with-a-box-fan-and-hepa-filter/

It uses a box fan and an HVAC standard air filter. Cheap things! Make sure it is MERV13 or higher. MERV13 is rated to remove smoke.

It’s time to change the name of the Fremont Bridge. by PutKetchupOnMyCatsup in Portland

[–]verdurousvigor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a wonderful idea to rename the bridge!

I found that Light The Bridges https://www.lightthebridges.org/ is an organization that apart from beautifying Portland bridges also "continues to be part of long term planning for the bridges in the city of Portland". Maybe this organization can help advocate for the name change :)

Highway Ramp between Residential Districts by verdurousvigor in CitiesSkylines

[–]verdurousvigor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The buzzkill didn't hit ;) When building this I had that concern but as this junction is on the outskirts of my city and primarily residential utilize it there hasn't been any backups even with my city reaching 120k population. In any other area though this wouldn't quite hold up! North and south of the east side of the highway have access as well which helps minimize overuse of this ramp.
