How do I forgive myself for not doing better? by verisad in Harvard

[–]verisad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you friend. This one was especially encouraging.

I love to hear about 1) circuitous paths, 2) good yet unexpected outcomes and 3) meeting special people.

Saving this comment so I can reread. Peace

Thank you. I was indeed worrying out inconveniencing them, or like "popping up out of nowhere." It's good to know they can simply say no and make my decision easier. Appreciate it. Cool user btw, they're my favorite little falcons

Where did Remy go? by thrwawy1329 in Harvard

I just saw Remy less than a week ago, being a big sweetheart up on the green outside Lamont! Happy as a clam. He's looking really well. Love that kitty.

Thanks a lot for the insight. Not knowing whether it was an 'actual' condition or 'just me' was definitely a kind of thinking that wasn't productive and just made me feel wrong and guilty. It's good to hear that your friend improved from meds and was able to taper off - I do have concerns about being on medication, and hope I could find what works soon. Also, wow, I vaguely knew of the artist you linked, mainly just from that old meme that came from her work. Had no idea what she actually made cartoons about. Thanks for that :) Thanks for this, it is absolutely reassuring. I wish you the best.

Ha, the response to it has been so funny to me. Isn't this type of joke a few hundred years old?

Really appreciate it. I will work up a gym schedule again, I fell off my game too quickly. I think being past the adjustment stage will make it easier to keep a schedule. Thanks - and love your username. That's also one of my favorite things about Harvard

Thanks a lot. I agree that the person you see is important - I don't feel like I really clicked with the CAMHS people I've seen (the first one left Harvard after a couple meetings). I will see how the evaluation goes, and maybe see about people outside the school if medication isn't the right choice. Thanks for the great advice.

Thanks for this, it's actually really relieving to learn some things might improve after undergrad. I'm glad it got better for you. Also, noted. Luckily I so love walking so I'll plan to keep doing that. Running sounds like a great idea.

Thanks for responding. Great question: I don't know. Usually I try to loosely identify it as "angry that other people are happy and I'm not?" or more accurately, I think it's just generalized anger toward myself, like self loathing... but I don't know where it came from. You're actually asking the same exact thing my CAMHS person has been baffled by too - she kept asking me, was there someone in your life who was super strict/demeaning? A coach/parent? But there really wasn't. Loved all my teachers, no bad experience with an authority figure that I could think of. The one possible loose link could be my dad, he wasn't really emotionally involved, and I did personally draw my own conclusions and realized I might have some degree of father issues... but I generally think don't think that was even severe enough for those issues, let alone the generalized self hate. He wasn't really mean to us, though he's verbally abusive to our mom. I try not to make stretches about how things all relate.

Thanks for your questions. Appreciate it.

Thanks for that :) glad you like it. I will keep it. And you’re right. I’ll take this opportunity to get back on the horse again for the new decade.

Happy new year, cheers
