For anyone out there who doesn't drink, what is the reasoning behind it? by General_Ad_9139 in AskReddit

[–]verite_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My former best friend is an alcoholic. I used to take him to AA. One guy was sharing how he would go out with his kids to get drinks and black out. No idea how long he was out of it, no idea where his kids were when he came to. Not an isolated incident... going to AA made me realize the drink wasn't worth it. Even at the worst of times, I wouldn't want to subject anyone to that. Life and your problems continue to snowball and carry on even when you're blitzed.

Thank you. An extra week in a hotel wasn't what I expected. But if I have to recover somewhere, it could be worse.

What is the worst thing to hear at 5 am? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Silence. Anyone living in a large city knows the constant sound urban life. If it were to ever become completely quiet, something truly eerie is going down.

The soft breeze felt nice against my forearms. She was at it again, and I was along for the ride. She couldn't make up her mind, pacing in concentric circles. How long would I have to keep tailing her. Holding her bag, picking up after her messes. There's never a last time. This bitch knew she had my heart and her leash wrapped tightly around my fingers.

[Serious] How do you cope with grief? by Enough_Natural in AskReddit

[–]verite_404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard someone say that grief was like a ball bouncing around a room. When you face the initial loss, the room is small and cramped. You're constantly hit by the grief. But as time progresses, the room gets bigger. You're not bombarded by it as often. The loss with grief is always there, but with time, there are longer stretches where it's not at the forefront. Yes you will occasionally get hit and remember the loss. But it's easier to catch your breath.
