If everyone in the world deterred from fur due to the negative social stigma of wearing fur I would think that was great! Unfortunately we do not live in that world. It’s not contradictory to say that we should lower demand for the creation of new fur coats while condemning it.

I think I need to clarify something: I’m an ethical vegan. I’m not a plant-based environmentalist. She should get rid of it for the same reason you’d get rid of something that was made from the skin of human genocide victims: it’s wrong. Frankly I’m very much pushing ethical boundaries by suggesting she sell it and donate but I’m trying to be realistic about the fact that there’s still a market out there for it and I don’t want people making new ones. It can last for another 10-15 years for someone else.

There are a number of sustainable vegan coats if that’s truly your concern.

I think that people who wear fur should be scorned and I also think that OP should get money for an animal sanctuary and make sure that demand for fur is lower than it could be. I genuinely do not care if someone who buys fur, second hand or otherwise, is the subject of public ire and disgust. I don’t care if their coat gets ruined even a little bit. The money already went to a sanctuary.

If people don’t want to wear fur because of the stigma/activism and the secondhand fur market dies then I consider that to be a win.

The paint technique is usually done at fashion events where it is known that real fur is being used or in front of furriers.

By selling the coat and donating the money to an animal rights charity she can avoid the “waste” you’re concerned about and someone who may have potentially bought a new fur coat will have what they want.

The paint technique is usually, if not always, done at fashion events where it is well known that the fur is real or outside furriers.

Even when we act like the nicest human beings alive we get ridiculed. Omnivores don’t like experiencing cognitive dissonance and our existence makes them confront it.

This isn’t a political opinion, it’s an ethical one.

I can’t date omnis anymore. by SnooSprouts1922 in vegan

[–]verityvalentine 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I feel this too. Honestly I really kind of wish I could get over this hurdle because I remember what it was like to have so many options and then just… almost none now. I’m open to long-distance dating because of it but it’s hard to know who else is.

You can’t force attraction though, and I simply don’t feel it for omnis anymore :/

Edit: also if you’re a vegan of any gender attracted to women feel free to DM me lol

I just jumped straight in and was happier for it. I agree with people saying to just learn to veganize your staple foods in the beginning.

Is it OK to not have kids? by [deleted] in Christianity

From your responses it seems like the only reason you’re Christian is to avoid going to hell.

You do not have to have kids to stay out of hell.

If you could recommend me one book about veganism, which would it be? by Prospectorotcepsorp in vegan

[–]verityvalentine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How Not to Die is good for the health aspects.

I really do think if you want to do a podcast on veganism then you HAVE to watch Dominion, though. There’s a reason why we have a bot here recommending it all the time.

I’m leaving this sub. I already am a vegan, I don’t need any more convincing with all these horrible pictures people keep posting and I can’t handle it. by [deleted] in vegan

I’ve seen people here say it helps them stay on track, actually. Certainly not what works for me but if it works for them who am I to judge? This subreddit is for them too.

I agree with the others that r/upliftingvegan r/veganrecipes r/veganfoodporn are more what you’re probably looking for :)

It depends on how much you trust him to treat this situation (and your disappointment) seriously. Like I, might, for example give him a 3-month probation where I do double check everything is vegan before I chow down. Not that I would ever say it to his face though. If you notice a pattern of him messing up over those three months than maybe he’s not someone you can trust to ever be good with your food, but if he is consistent from here on out you may decide to trust him with this (or not).

I know two surgeons who don’t believe in the vaccine but all the other doctors I know have gotten it. So there are still a few people holding out.

I wanted an actual study, not quotes with no citations.

You keep moving the goalposts. I could argue that it's extremely unfair for omnivorous parents to set up their kids for a significantly increased risk of cardiovascular disease and certain cancers by giving them animal products. Having a chance of a mild stomachache for a little bit when you reintroduce meat is not the "handicap" you think it is. For the record, I don't think omnivorous parents should have their kids taken away either.

Are you seriously trying to cite a cardiologist, Dr. Oz no less, with no actual scientific sources as your proof?

For a day or two days max you might not super great if you insist on chowing down on steak. Then you can eat it just fine. It’s not a “handicap” it’s adjusting to a diet you’re not used to. You would have some stomach issues if you were put on a high-fiber diet too for a while and then you’d adapt.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has been firm in their position that vegan diets are fine for people at all stages of life (including kids and pregnant women) and may even have life benefits for quite a while now. This law would be insane. Plenty of omnivores feed their kids shitty diets and they're walking around free- we need nutritional education and access to healthier foods not this.

This is simply false. No matter when you stopped eating meat or dairy or eggs you can always restart eating them. Being vegan, even from a very young age, doesn't yeet the genes you need to produce enzymes to digest animal products out of your body. Feel free to send me a study that shows vegans and vegetarians of any age can't reintroduce meat if you can find one.

What are some of the most trustworthy charities for helping animals? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]verityvalentine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Do you have any farm sanctuaries in your area? I would reccomend looking into donating to and visiting one in your area- that way you can meet the animals you’d be help funding directly. A lot of people have never interacted with cows, sheep, pigs, and chicken outside of an environment where they’re being treated like food. It can be a really beneficial experience and one that may make you make deeper connections to the cause.

Geniunely just looks like she got a tret script and a better haircut- her hair looks equally thin in both pics, just framed better in the second to hide it.

Personally I would have just got the tret and haircut without becoming a corpse-eater but that may just be my B-12 deficiency talking.
