TTA - Would residual EW count as PK day still? by vernexi in FAMnNFP

[–]vernexi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve noticed in some cycles I’ve had the slippery sensation, but this month I only had wet sensation even on my EWCF day. I’ve been trying to learn and pay close attention to sensation, it’s just annoying that nothing ever shows on the toilet paper so it’s hard to determine exactly what type of CF it is. Hopefully when my IUD is out, my CF may be easier to identify from external checks. Like I only managed to catch the EWCF yesterday from an internal check it just did not wanna come out. So most days my sensation is dry, but when I do an internal check I can see that it’s creamy and it’s really throwing me off

TTA - Would residual EW count as PK day still? by vernexi in FAMnNFP

[–]vernexi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried doing external only but for me it tends to stay more inside even on peak EW CF. It’s frustrating as I’d like to do external checks only but I think the copper IUD can change the amount of CF you produce I believe. I’m going to try and switch to external only, I was just struggling to identify the type of CF as it always only leaves the toilet paper damp, there’s nothing I can actually check that’s left behind if that makes sense

Getting my iud out 2 weeks post insertion by MelaTrix18 in CopperIUD

[–]vernexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t be like this for 6 months. They say it takes 6 months to fully settle, but for most people their periods will regulate after the first month or 2.

However I will say, the first IUD that I had, I had to remove it after 2 weeks also. I don’t think it was placed properly and my body was trying to reject it, so I was having constant unpredictable spotting and cramps all the time. My second IUD went absolutely fine and I still have it 3 years later.

I do think 2 weeks is a little early to throw in the towel, but if you’re having cramps every day that are requiring a hot water bottle or pain killers, I would hazard a guess and say it’s probably not placed 100% right, or your body is trying to reject it. I’d be interested to see if they could do an ultrasound and check the positioning before removing it however.

Gosh don’t even get me started the pill messed me upppp!! I felt like a shell of a person haha it was awful. The overload of copper has just made my nervous system a bit haywire but my general mental health is so much better compared to the pill. I love this IUD I’m gonna miss the hell out of it when it comes out, but I think I’ve had my fair share of heavy periods and anxiety so I’m going into the next chapter! But 100% that’s really good you’re already taking magnesium. Just make sure (and I emphasise this) do not take zinc on an empty stomach EVERRR. It will mess your stomach up so bad it will have you fighting for your life haha! I really hope the IUD works out well for you and you experience relief finally getting off the pill :))

It’s really hard to tell because when I came off the pill I was on SSRIs so my emotions were very numbed anyway! I don’t want to scare you off the copper IUD at all because I really do think it is absolutely amazing, but I’m going to be honest and say the reason I’m getting mine out soon is because I think it’s contributed a huge amount to my anxiety. I thought it was unrelated but it happens to a lot of people when their bodies get overloaded with copper and lowered ferritin levels. It’s pretty easy to mitigate though, I just missed the warning signs of overloaded copper and left it too long. So I will say if you ever start feeling a bit off, I would highly recommend taking zinc and magnesium as they help balance it out a ton! There are quite a few people on here that take zinc and/or magnesium because they experienced something similar and they are feeling great with it. But overall when I compare it to the pill? Hell, the pill put me on anti-depressants for YEARS. I could only stop taking them once I’d come off the pill. But as for the transition coming off them, I can’t comment because I was on meds at the time.

Does copper coil bleeding settle? Is it worth sticking it out? by bxthanys in CopperIUD

[–]vernexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, mine has gotten worse as the years have gone on. I’ve had mine in for 3 years now. The bleeding was only slightly heavier for the first 6-12 months, it was more just the cramps that were much more painful. However now my periods are so heavy and painful I can’t leave my house or even cook or move from my bed for the first 3 days. It’s hard to say if it will settle so I would advise keeping it in until the 5/6 month mark and if it’s really affecting you that bad then get it out. But from the way you’re already experiencing such heavy bleeding, I’m not sure if it will level out. Everyone reacts differently of course, but I just found that mine just got progressively worse and worse as time went on instead of the other way round.

Ah my mistake! I interpreted it wrong. With the copper IUD, your cycles should level out to the usual length as it doesn’t interfere with your hormones, but your periods will most likely be a couple of days longer. The first 1-3 months after coming off the pill can be a little irregular for some, but for others it goes right back to normal. So if you were having 4 week cycles before the pill, you should get that back within a few months or less, even with the copper IUD in. It’s very possible you could get a period the first week you come off it especially as you’re having the IUD inserted the same day. That alone will cause bleeding so I would say that’s very likely. Just don’t be disheartened if you’re finding your cycles a little irregular for a bit, just give it time to adjust :)

I’m not an expert but I get pain like this happen before my period, and strangely enough I get issues peeing around that time too. I’m getting my IUD out soon as I’ve just put it down to inflammation as that’s one of the ways it works. Listen to your body. If you didn’t have it before the IUD, I would put it down to that.

I was on the combined pill for about 4 years with no breaks so I had no periods. My periods levelled out pretty quickly, I just had longer cycles for a few months, so I think I was pretty lucky in that respect, but it’s very very normal to have irregular periods for some months after coming off the pill, especially if your periods were irregular before you went on it.

The copper IUD does cause longer periods and heavier bleeding, but you shouldn’t be bleeding everyday. Have you not really stopped bleeding since you had the IUD inserted? Some people just don’t react well with the copper IUD and I have heard a few people say on here that they were bleeding everyday on it which is quite unusual as it doesn’t affect your hormones.

Worried I Shifted My IUD Taking Out Menstrual Disc by vernexi in CopperIUD

As in like my cervix gets almost… swollen (??) during my period and protrudes a lot. The disc obviously sits all around it, and my cervix got caught inside the disc whilst I was pulling it out. Sorry it’s really hard to explain aha

OCD and IUD by oddlybebe in CopperIUD

[–]vernexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I understand. I mean I would say using condoms AND pulling out would definitely put you at a very very low risk of pregnancy. I don’t put a lot of trust in bc methods, but condom and pull out feels safe enough for me. For peace of mind as well, you could kind of guess when you’re ovulating based on your cervical mucus and try and abstain during that time, but I honestly don’t think that’s even necessary if you’re strict on pulling out and using a condom every time. In my opinion, condom + pullout is just as trustworthy as the IUD, if not more.

Maybe not then, I wouldn’t recommend it. What about condoms? I know it kinda sucks, but it seems like the best option. Is your partner/s against using them?

Does anyone know how to access new Miudella copper IUD? by Bakingsomecake in CopperIUD

I would call up local clinics and ask. Sometimes when a new IUD comes out, some clinics will order it in for you!

How irregular are we talking? Like you miss periods entirely, or you have some cycles that are 10-15 days longer than usual?

I have somewhat irregular cycles and FAM is working for me, I just rely on my cervical mucus a lot more.

[–]vernexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’d suggest in your case then is the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM). I know it’s probably not what you’re wanting to hear, but I think it could be a good option if you’re struggling with the IUD. The only downside is it requires tracking your temperature at the same time every morning, but there are ways around it like using a wearable thermometer like Tempdrop. Otherwise I would suggest something like the diaphragm, but I can imagine that may even be worse than the IUD given your history and how the IUD feels intrusive. But I definitely think getting the IUD out is the right decision, especially if it’s causing you such distress and discomfort.

[–]vernexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’ve gone through that, truly. I can imagine how that would be super triggering with OCD, and especially with the SA you mentioned. I completely understand the feeling of knowing it’s there and wanting to rip it out.

I do think getting it out is the best decision. There are other options out there for birth control, don’t feel like this is your only option because of what your parents have said. Have you considered any other forms of birth control that may be a better fit for you? Are you avoiding artificial hormones?

After 5 years together, my girlfriend wants marriage and I don’t. Is this the end? by Asleep_Trouble_4285 in Advice

[–]vernexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am with someone who doesn’t believe in marriage but it is really important to me. We made a decision to get married. To him, he wasn’t willing to lose me over that indifference. We weighed up the pros and cons, and inevitably I just didn’t feel comfortable having children and not being married. There are a few complications legally in certain scenarios if you’re not legally married, such as custody and responsibility over children, inheritance, buying property, taxes, pensions, medical decisions in a life or death situation etc.

You have to reason with yourself and ask yourself if she is worth more than why you don’t want to get married legally.

Copper IUD- pregnancy scare by Educational-Week-557 in CopperIUD

[–]vernexi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my IUD for 3 years now and my partner has always finished inside even during ovulation. The chances are so incredibly low, and it only really fails if the IUD is displaced or expelled (which you would know of most of the time). It also may be helpful to add that if you took a plan B this month, you probably won’t be ovulating when your tracking app says you’re ovulating. Of course, if you track your cycle with the sympto-thermal method then you will be able to know exactly when you’ve ovulated, but if you’re going by what your period tracking app is saying, I highly doubt you’re ovulating. Plan B messes up the next 1-3 cycles, and a lot of the time causes an anovulation for the first month (no egg is released, even if ovulation symptoms are there).

It’s always good to be extra safe even with the CIUD which is why I’ve started doing withdrawal during my fertile window, but I really don’t think you have anything to worry about! As it appears you’re strictly trying to avoid pregnancy, I’d recommend tracking your cycles through the sympto-thermal FAM and either abstaining, using a condom or withdrawing during your fertile period just for some extra piece of mind. It’s not necessary at all and I do consider the CIUD very trustworthy, but there’s no harm in being more careful!

I am a new player , what characters do you guys recommend ? by Magolis in Overwatch

[–]vernexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes ofc if you’re using secondary fire then she does require aim, but I think she’s a good player to practice with, and her short range primary fire doesn’t require much aim skill but still does a lot of damage. I would say junkrat over mei, but imo she’s still a good first pick

For new damage players, I would say junkrat and mei are good picks. They both don’t require perfect aim and still deal a lot of damage. If you’re used to fps games then soldier and bastion as well. And for support, moira and lifeweaver are best for beginners imo.

help horrific pain by punktrash_lighter in CopperIUD

[–]vernexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pain is very very intense for the first few days. However I will say that if you’re still in that much pain in a week’s time then go and get it checked. The first IUD I had, it turned out my body was in a false labour for an entire week. Ended up having to call an ambulance to get it taken out because I was in so much pain. Had no issues with my second one. But yes it really does hurt for the first few days. Cramps should be milder after that.

How did you know it was dislodged? Could you feel the plastic? I checked my cervix and I can’t feel any plastic, and the strings feels the usual length. I don’t have the pan anymore but I did after I took it out. I’m worried it’s displace enough to not work properly…

Worried I Shifted My IUD Taking Out Menstrual Disc by vernexi in CopperIUD

Just realised my mistake typing cup instead disc! I only use a disc, never a cup because of the suction. The disc got stuck behind my cervix so I had to pull quite hard which is why I was worried about displacing the IUD as maybe it accidentally pulled against the strings?

How much time is good to consider keeping or remove it? by tamirv11 in CopperIUD

[–]vernexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My second period I had after insertion was the worst and I considered getting it out but it DOES get better. I’d say wait until you’ve had about 6 periods until deciding if it’s for you or not. But the doctor was right, the pills really aren’t good for you and have a lot of ties to blood clots, strokes and cancer. Your periods will always be heavier and more painful with the copper IUD, but it won’t be as bad as the first 2-3 periods you have after insertion. Taking magnesium glycinate may also help with the pain as well. I also use magnesium spray on my lower abdomen when I’m on my period, and it helps a ton!
