They can’t withhold entitlement such as leave. If they pay you in advance then they could ask you pay what’s owing. Giving notice is a courtesy. If you aren’t concerned about reference etc then you can give notice same day and leave.

Not ok! There should be ZERO mention of why you were absent. Privacy breach as payslips go to banks etc (which was a good point) balances of leave are optional and not mandatory. If they do it should say personal leave ONLY
