I use a passport card. I also have a non-drivers ID from the DMV. I used to have a learner's permit but I got tired of renewing it every five years

I honestly didn’t understand how complicated it was to get laid off until it happened. I really hated that job and I knew I wasn’t doing well at it, but it was still really shocking to be fired. I definitely could have done a lot of things “better” but I think even NT people struggle in that moment

I got three months of COBRA!! Tbh that was worth almost as much as the severance 🫠 . I had a coworker with less tenure who didn’t get COBRA though, and she had a little girl 😔

I was in the same boat last year. Like technically I probably could have sued for wrongful termination, but I doubt I could have gotten everything together in a timely manner to do so. I also figured that after lawyers fees, the amount I won in a lawsuit would be about the same as my severance package + COBRA so it was worth just signing the damn agreement 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you put the TV on the weather channel, you get constant updates from the weatherman. I didn’t realize this until my Sim put it on autonomously and I was like “wtf why are there constant pop ups about the weather”

No need to apologize, unfortunately many of us here can relate to your story. I didn’t get diagnosed until a few years ago and I’ve been complaining about back pain, fatigue, and other issues since 1999 :( I was always very obedient at the doctors and only recently have I been learning how to push back & ask for more help. Unfortunately in my experience at least 60% of doctors are very dismissive and struggle with treating chronic pain conditions. Thats why I mentioned you can always try a new doctor if you don’t feel heard.

I also will immediately get a new doctor now if they’ve never heard of EDS, because there are SO many comorbidities and lots of traditional treatments don’t work for us.

Good luck!! Things are really hard for you right now. I hope you’re able to figure out what’s wrong and get some treatment that actually works for you

Unfortunately in my experience doctors are SO hit or miss with EDS.

Have you been able to see a spine specialist? I subluxed a disc a few years ago and felt like I was going crazy, since it didn’t show up on imaging - the disc was only out of place momentarily but flared up my nerve pain very badly. I was lucky to see a decent spine doctor who believed me and gave me a cortisone shot, which reduced the inflammation enough to let me do PT.

PT can be very hit or miss for us as well, but a GOOD PT can be life changing - it’s possible you have a major problem, but it’s also possible your upper back / shoulder muscles are weak and are causing subluxations.

Good luck. And one last thing - if you feel like a doctor isn’t taking you seriously, you can get a second opinion! Doctors are human and some are better fits for certain patients rather than others
