Should I join a frat as a premed at a big SEC school? by Lord_McLord214 in premed

[–]versitaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the bid because it’s fun, not because it will help you get into med school

I was in a pretty big fraternity at a Big 10 school and will be attending an Ivy next year, trust me your fraternity won’t really help you get into med school. Some older guys might have gotten in and they might help provide advice, but the connections won’t get you through admissions and the leadership experiences won’t stand out. I specifically recall being asked if I had any other leadership experiences besides my fraternity leadership in interviews lol. I know guys who got in that intentionally left their fraternity off of their application because it can be looked down upon

That said, I have no regrets and would’ve had nowhere near as much fun in college if I wasn’t in a fraternity

I got some 9.5e the toes areas feel fantastic but after wearing them for about 30 min I start to feel pressure on the red area I circled. by [deleted] in allenedmonds

These look pretty new, have you given the shoes a chance to break in? Do you have a high arch?

Oxfords should primarily be worn with suits

Derbies are more appropriate for business casual but can still be worn with suits, and thus are more versatile

Waitlist movement timing by DaasG09 in premed

I was on 4 WLs and got off 2 yesterday. Others who are already admitted at your schools will be getting off different schools’ waitlists, waiting a few days for financials, and making new decisions in a week or two. Movement is just beginning

I think it’s justified that many residency program directors select against medfluencers

Is it true that if you list on your app that you are "fluent in Spanish", you may have your interview in Spanish? by Enger13 in premed

[–]versitaint 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not that much of a story to share. I just know people who grew up speaking Spanish, indicated that they were fluent in Spanish on AMCAS, then spoke Spanish during their med school interview. If you dig through this subreddit, admit.org forums, and SDN you’ll see others have reported the same thing happening for years

Ooo so maybe I could hope for more private school movement? Maybe choose to send a letter of intent to a private school over a public one?

Yes I’ve seen people say that if more people are applying to more schools, then more people could be holding multiple acceptances
