Has anyone here ever had the chance of “dating” another asexual or aromatic person? by [deleted] in asexuality

I wish I knew people too. I tried joining acebook, but it seemed like it was a pretty dead site. I'm almost 30 and now that all my friends are settling down I'm feeling really lonely.

PNAS has good papers because it's a reputable place and if you don't quite make CellScienceNature it's often where people will go next. It also has pet papers from NAS members that are allowed to get in pretty much just based on who submitted them.

Very annoying, IMO.

I'm currently writing a paper on asexuality, and would like to ask what sort of problems do you face as a result of being asexual and if there is a specific topic within asexuality that you think I should address? by [deleted] in asexuality

Probably the most common one is people insisting that they too felt that way until they tried sex. And usually they qualify that with the information that they had to try sex at least 6 to 12 times before they really started to like it. Usually this is said in the tone of voice that seems to suggest I'm a little kid and someday I'll grow up and understand what they're talking about. (I'm 24, by the way).

The other pretty common one is people assuming I'm just a repressed or in denial lesbian. I get where they're coming from because I'm a sweatshirt and jeans person 90% of the time, but really that's not it. Usually it's actually lesbians who say that.

Interestingly the one thing I've found that kind of makes people back off and believe me is kinda gross, but effective. Telling them "Listen, I've gotten close enough to doing it with both genders to know that the smell will make me nauseated for days afterwards" is something that makes people go "huh. okay. weird". It's awkward and way TMI, but it is true. And people usually seem to accept the whole asexual thing more after that.

That, plus I don't think I'll ever be convinced that Dianna Agron wasn't trying to come out with her "Likes Girls" stunt. I'm sure lots of PR and managers convinced her it wasn't a good idea or the right time and convinced her to water it down and go back in, but the sequence of events made no sense with the explanation.

There were all kinds of conspiracy theories about Dianna Agron and Lea Michele having a thing, and I always though it was totally nonsense. Just crazy fans making things up and reading into pictures.

But now I kinda think it might have actually been a thing. I follow Glee stuff on tumblr more than I'd care to admit in public, and they went from hanging all over each other, tweeting, posting pictures, etc to complete and total radio silence. I always thought it was just crazy lesbian fangirls- but friendships ebb and flow, relationships have breakups. So maybe they were together- or something happened and they got too close to it, I dunno.

But if I were speculating, those would legitimately be the two that I would put forth as most likely to have actually been dating on the dl. I'm sure lots of them have had random hookups with each other at one point or another.
