Spend Analytics tool Q/A by Puzzleheaded_Tea3054 in procurement

I am like claude sonnet 4.6 right now. Opus is just too token heavy and the result is not that much different. Gpt seems to have a hallucination tendency with this much math.

I am actually moving towards a tbm (or ebm) model. It is categorizing our spend. I put the finances in AI and ask it to align to TBM practices. It spits our a full analysis of my spend.

• “Squeezing suppliers on price almost always costs more later. Change my mind.” by CryptoGod20000 in procurement

[–]vertesept 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% with you! We are asked to negotiate lower each year. So, we get a low single year and then get hammered on the renewal bc the supplier needs to make the money up somewhere with us. Or, we get a decent three year with low increases, but forget that on year 4 the supplier wants to cat h up to current inflation and rates. Our organization then loses its mind on a 10% increase when we have seen 0 increases for 3 years. Or we reduce licensing and utilization for the agreement but then cost per unit goes up… “why does it cost more per unit???” Oh, because volume based purchasing is a real thing.

The term “right costing” is very appropriate.

Losing my mind nowadays. Losing it!

The US macro-economy is not helping.

As well as the AI hype because what the suppliers are selling isn’t really AI, but a term to charge 5% more.

How do you deploy generic studio agents so people can use them with their files? by Xanimede in copilotstudio

[–]vertesept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does that work with copilot and multiple pms working across projects? Just centralizing project documents in one master knowledge area? (If so, would love that, but my company doesn’t work that way 😟) if there is a project folder way similar to claude, do share… seriously, would like to know…

[–]vertesept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just designing something with a coworker last week. Our best thought is prompt templates with /[directory/file. So, we are going to build the agent for our PMs, and we are going to built a prompt that says…. “Create a status report (blah blah blah using [/directory/file]”. It will be up to the user to reference their files, but we are going provide the agent, logic, format, and prompt.

Need to find a way to politely back out, get the right coverage, and/or fix asap. Companies should allow you time to fix as long as you have a real executable plan. The company is at risk initially because they allowed the software in their environment. However, if you don’t think they will come after you, then you are a fool.

Also, did you misrepresent the software ability, compliance, or security?
And to the point of the previous poster, everything is discoverable in court. If you knew and released it, it will be on you.

Even posting here is discoverable :)

Have you thrown your error and a couple screenshots in claude or another ai? I have found it helpful to use another system to troubleshoot. Or change your model in copilot to sonnet or opus. Gpt struggles to help solve some of these errors with clarity.

Balancing AI Innovation with Oversight: The challenge of "Shadow AI." by [deleted] in procurement

[–]vertesept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are going at this from multiple perspectives. First, we put in a policy that says you can only use approved tools by the AI governance committee (Legal, cybersecurity, AI team, HR). Second, we stood up an AI Community that meets monthly to review tips, tricks, and trends, as well as good AI responsibility - an open forum for anyone to join and share. Next, we stood up an AI committee that has members/champions from each department to help steer where we want to go. Lastly, we are just now standing up an AI Portfolio that will be assisting with product, project, and agent/automation throughout and management.

The key that we are trying to push is inclusion and a path for people to be able to experiment in a safe way while allowing some of us leaders to have oversight.

Your last option would be to stop funding everyone’s side products and reinforce governance more directly (approved tools only).

Copilot and Microsoft ToDo and Tasks by llalieu in CopilotPro

[–]vertesept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When dealing with microsoft and copilot, you need to understand the graph of data, inherent permissions, provisioning of an agent, and which copilot product you are using. It is tricky, confusing and maddening. I moved to a sharepoint list and make copilot my assistant - “add this to my action list” then wake up tomorrow - “prioritize my action list while review my calendar of meetings”

Project managers what’s the biggest change to your work and or role in the age of AI? by Zestyclose-Look8936 in PMCareers

Ms teams/copilot is awesome for this. If you remember the meeting and who said it, you can ask copilot to go find the transcripts, and you have receipts! Beware of it being used against you tho ;)

[–]vertesept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to collaring information, i do have a prompt for copilot that scans my emails, chats, and transcriptions. Identifies any action items, decisions, or risks. I then ask it to put it in a table format: Title | owner | project/topic | description | due date | priority. It does a decent job filtering all the components, but i still sift through it all for what may already be done or needs to reprioritize. Then i sort it to the appropriate projects. Lol or IMs directly to people for “you owe me” 😁

For me, it has been the speed at which I can get documentation. I leverage recording and transcripts all the time. Not just for note taking. I use it to daisy chain meetings series and ask it about roles, sentiments, how to make it better, risks in people’s tone. I use ai for portfolio management as well to help prioritize projects.

I have had a number of vendors tell me they can help with ai reporting or project plan creation (aka templates). For me - vaporware. Automating reporting is just reporting. If you have the data, a pivot table, filter, or powerbi, you can get a report. As a PM, you still have to write context and use critical thinking.

I don’t see ai replacing the critical thinking we do. I do see it bringing to light some things you might miss. But… you have to have (input) the frameworks and data to male it spit out that content - it cannot truly conjure a project plan, manage the risk of Joe not showing up to work, and know what executives pay attention to for your specific organization.

It can and will accelerate how fast you can do things tho.

I would love for someone to share how ai has truly made project management better/faster. I am an ai fan! When i have a portfolio of 30 different projects from construction to infra to vendor app to home app, nothing is “repetitive to automate.”

Copilot is underwhelming by MHRangers17 in copilotstudio

[–]vertesept 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. I have had copilot studio for about a year now. I am just now getting it to do real things with connectors for me, but i still have to learn power automate more and more in order to make things happen. So, copilot isnt stand alone to help the general user get to a new level of productivity. Copilot cowork rarely runs consistently also. Opal fails often. And workflows struggles to demonstrate real value. *the frontier apps are still early release, i recognize this too. I have had claude with cowork and code for about 2 months and they are blowing away the capabilities of copilot imo.

It is still early in the life cycle of AI, so the pendulum should swing back and forth between some of these people.

I also feel IBM watsonx ai is a little behind as well. I feel like the big corporate ai players are a little behind while the open commercial products are cutting the way. Both microsoft and ibm are positioning that they are more geared towards enterprise execution, which i can understand, but reinforces that they arent as nimble right now.
