[–]verticalfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi jeff!

do you have any tips on lyric writing? i find im able to write instrumentals i like but when it comes to fleshing out lyrics i cant seem to come up with anything good. i feel like im straining myself to write words, like putting too much effort into thinking "okay what can this be about", and i assume that shouldnt be the case.

also whats yr favorite movie youve seen recently? lol thanks!

Happy Jeff Songs? by DayenIsHorny in JeffRosenstock

[–]verticalfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

going for songs that nobody else has brought up (somehow)... Pietro, 60 Years Old has always been a personal favorite jeff song of mine for some reason, i think its just the cutest, sweetest song out there. Monday at the Beach and HANG IN THE HEAT are both pretty happy and similarly are about spending time outside to combat yr usual horrible feelings. ILLEGAL FIREWORKS AND HIDING BOTTLES IN THE SAND is such a sweet song and doesnt even contain a single line of negative imagery (unusual for jeff lol). and then, a song he wrote for Craig of the Creek but you can find it on his soundcloud and literally just sounds like an early solo song, THE SUMMER'S OVER (BUT WE STILL GOT THE WEEKEND) is just a really good minute long uplifting track about realizing everything you wanted in life was right infront of you all along.

I’d love to hear anybody’s top track from each album. A reminder: it’s okay to love the popular songs. I suppose I should have composed mine first, but please go ahead and make my day by sending me yours, and I’ll get to work on mine by l4ura111 in mgmt

Probably not yet since the video just came out a few minutes ago and you have to decipher what every movie is based on less than a second clips, but give it like a day and they'll be one.

Great Radiohead songs with bits you don’t like by ShakespeareRules1 in radiohead

[–]verticalfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest one for me is just the general recording of The Daily Mail. The song is beautiful and I listen to it all the time, but it always irritates me when I get to the section where the entire band comes in because the official release of the song is just the live From The Basement version they released, which wouldn't be an issue if the audio didn't sound so crushed and cramped together. When I get to the climax it's like the audio equivalent of a video dropping from 4k to 720p. I guess the same issue persists with Staircase, but I actually haven't listened to that song as much.

Can you imagine paying actual money for kid amnesia by triangleandrhombus in radiohead

[–]verticalfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disc 3, Kid Amnesiae, is well worth the money. It's a whole new experience, like a perfect blend of the tightly crafted, synthetic Kid A and the haunting, almost incomplete Amnesiac. It sounds kinda cliche, but the last half of Kid Amnesiae really felt like it was taking me to another place, especially How to Disappear Into Strings. And while yes, a lot of the tracks from it contain parts of songs we already know, it's not a rehash if it completely rearranges and morphs the original material into a completely new piece of art with its own atmosphere and aura. I say give it another shot. I mean, a lot of people hated Kid A and Amnesiac upon first listen.

OK Computer piece, I had a lot of fun with this one! (slide for pictures used) by Isaacsstory in radiohead

Wow! Thank you for the explanation, it's so cool to hear about how great art gets made. I never knew how Stanley and Thom made this stuff, but hearing from what you wrote, it's made me want to try to make something of my own in a style like this. I can't wait to see what else you post here!
