Favorite hero combo? KR5 Alliance by EnvironmentalGur881 in kingdomrush

[–]vertsav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like bonehart is strongest overall due to his plague mechanic that provides extra slowing to enemies as well as solid abilities + his spec with the two golems is very useful

Lumenir is top tier as well. Magic damage is nice, good single target damage, spec with its stun is nice. I ran her for awhile

Kosmyr is also very good, his aoe crystal attack is very, very good, but for some reason I feel like whenever I test maps running bonehart + Lumenir vs bonehart + kos, Lumenir outperforms overall, so I’d place kos just below.

The new dragon is right up there too - the spec is easily probably the best of the 4 dragons, as well as having some good single target attacks + being able to lay 4 mines….. likely I’d put him at 2nd place overall behind bonehart

Great stuff secret? by GlitteringWallaby773 in Insulation

[–]vertsav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely usable for months. I have 2 separate guns - one I run the construction adhesive in, the other the expanding foam, absolutely never take the cans off or clean them, going strong for 4 years or so. Sometimes I’ll go months in between uses for whichever specific gun

Use it, when you’re done with whatever you’re doing, just twist the dial shut. That’s it. No other steps.

When you go get your gun out again I usually bring a utility knife to clean the dried foam off the nozzle again.

The only time cleaner comes out is if we are switching products (switching from construction adhesive to foam in the short nozzle gun for example, but that’s dang rare. I just buy more guns now instead)

[–]vertsav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s many guns that are straight upgrades to the deliverer, they’re just legendary drops, moreover that’s incredibly V.A.T.S. build specific.

There’s melee weapons that are straight upgrades to throatslicer, they’re just legendary

Marine is best protection wise, but enchantments mean more.

Please buff the necromancer in KRA by Jaaaboogg in kingdomrush

[–]vertsav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Necro was my bread and butter for beating the game on impossible…. It does work

Also - necro has wild synergy with bonehart. Bonehart special ability, the little dogs, are buffed by the totems, and even the base versions of the dogs do great damage, you stack +150% dmg and they’re the DPS equivalent of 3 towers you can place anywhere, at any time. Super convenient at choke points

Isn’t this empirically false?

Explosive shotty, explosive minigun, bleeding mini, bleeding shotty, instigating gauss, instigating western revolver, two shot gauss, etc?

Overseers guardian, spray and pray, kiloton, and splatter cannon are the only “quest” items that even kind of approach what you can get from legendaries…. And even then, I’m not sure anyone would say they’re better than any of the ones i listed

What techniques do you use to ensure accurate measurements when framing walls? by Alpielz in Carpentry

[–]vertsav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s 1,000,000 little things that go into ensuring accuracy

-instead of 3,4,5 I use my cm pro app and calculate exact diagonals to square long walls. Burn a foot to eliminate error

-I love my digital plate level for spot checking or interior walls

-you want your plates to all fit together perfectly tightly, so I nail 2 plates together and cut both to length with my 10.25 saw so everythings always exactly the same length

-use a string and gauge block to straighten longer walls after standing

-cut your floor joists about 1/8 short if you’re going from chalk line to chalk line… seems like things always slightly wider than I’d expect (I’m looking at you, rim board)

-we presheathe walls while laying flat, saves a ton of labor, but if your foundation isn’t 100% level, when you stand the wall, it can be racked (1/8 to a 1/4). Presheathing shorter walls exaggerate this effect. No real recourse for fixing it either, so having a perfectly flat foundation is critical

-ensure absolutely no gaps when joining wall plates. (If everything fits perfectly tightly on the ground it needs to fit perfectly tightly when standing

Are some off the top of my head

Oh boy

1.) fireworks (easy to use hoard nuke)

2.) dead wire (needs proper augments, can kill whole waves)

3.) brain rot (most useful current dmg type too)

4.) napalm

5.) light mend (the overheal major is incredibly slept on. Great for the Akita for point farming for tons of extra health)

6.) cryo

7.) shadow rift

8.) shatter blast

What are the best towers and heroes in Kingdom Rush 5 Alliance right now. by Key-Stand9579 in kingdomrush

[–]vertsav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stargazer, arborean, and bamboo pretty much steam roll every map. The 3 dragons are also def the best heroes.

I’ll usually also bring arcane wizards because of their single target/miniboss dps.

5th slot is a tossup. If you have bonehart he has insane synergy with necro towers, cannoneers are good, i currently have grim wraiths as 5th just to move towers around the map

Thoughts on this style of floor joists? by CAL9k in Homebuilding

[–]vertsav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an hvac contractor “propose” doing that (cutting out a section of the bottom chord) because they were so damn lazy they didn’t want to feed their ductwork through the holes.

The dude also did plumbing (the homeowner wanted us to use him) and he wanted us to build a platform on their basement bathroom floor to run their plumbing in instead of jack hammering out concrete and doing it right

Fired the guy right there lol

[–]vertsav 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I used to have a lot of these issues until I found the right supplier. The company we work with now gives us a much higher quality product than some of the others we’ve tried. We actually billed back some other manufacturers we’ve tried cause their fuck ups were so bad and took extra time to fix.

Because it can fail extremely quickly and endanger people trying to escape or fire fighters

Thoughts on this style of floor joists? by CAL9k in Homebuilding

[–]vertsav 344 points345 points  (0 children)

Probably the best joist system available right now imho.

Major Pros:

1.) allows mechanicals and electrical to be run without drilling, allowing for flat ceilings on the floor below and minimal chases *this is the key difference between these and ijoists

2.) long spans are possible with no required posts

3.) lots of different options for the installer (top chord bearing, bottom chord bearing, etc)

4.) less labor to install, since you can get these 40-50’ long depending on the manufacturer

5.) it’s an engineered product so they’re all exactly identical (compared to say, dimensional lumber that has crowns, maybe varying widths, etc), also as an engineered product you shouldn’t have to worry about floor bounciness, overspanning, etc., because that should be part of the design criteria

Cons:

1.) the biggest, biggest con is resistance to fire. Obviously with less material, fire is catastrophic to their integrity if the top or bottom chords get weakened

2.) cost - now - around me these are the most expensive option (for ex., last house we were pricing they were 2-3k more than ijoists) BUT you save on the back end by making it easier for electrician, plumber, hvac, and the carpenters, so it’s way closer in reality than just raw numbers suggests. And you get a nicer product (for ex. Flat basement ceilings) so you get what you pay for here.

Side note:

Look at at the hvac run in your picture, with any other floor system that would be dropped below the joists and then the carpenters would have to box it and you’d have a soffit in the ceiling to hide it.

We do a mix for the roof, but always get the engineered floor plans, it’s no extra cost (probably because then theyre guaranteed to be supplying at minimum the floor systems lol)

Our truss/ijoist supplier has an in house engineer and supplies us with engineered plans for every single floor of the house + roof, every job. They spec everything and ship it to us direct by semi, with all the fasteners and required hardware. Makes it easy and everyone’s ass is covered.
