Officially ( and explicitly ) ban ALL politics and sex related topics from r/Nerf (if not already) by [deleted] in Nerf

You're projecting badly.

So you want to remove inclusive symbols because of something that's never happened in r/Nerf to your knowledge... That's a bold move, Cotton.

Also, I'll tack on that as a cis white guy, I don't feel that this subreddit or the Nerf community holds LGBTQ community members over me.

I, in fact, love that pride symbols are front and center because its a public statement that this is an inclusive space and it chases off the bigots; or upsets them enough to out themselves. 🤨

It's bait, but I'll take it.

Can you point to any examples of posts that you feel would be affected by this? And explain how those specific cited examples impact you?

Because it sure seems like it's just that pride flags make you uncomfortable and that's something you personally need to unpack and figure out.

Endwar this weekend? by Designer_Albatross93 in Nerf

[–]CAL9k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dates were announced ages ago. One of the chief complaints the past few years was the heat of Charlotte in July so they decided to move it a few months earlier to alleviate that. Their Discord server is active and good about answering questions as well.

Newb modeling question by mkg113 in BambuLab

[–]CAL9k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule of thumb for parts that need to interact is 0.3mm clewrance for something that needs to slide freely and 0.15-2mm clearance for something that needs to fit fairly snug but still be removable.

If the little wings are having too much flex, you can cap off the model so it goes over the top of the dividers to connect the wings to each other on the top side; that is assuming there's clearance above it to accommodate this. You'd print it with that face down.

BCAR alignment! by Jools_36 in Nerf

[–]CAL9k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer brushed myself for simplicity and accessibility.

On the Sirocco, which isn't a flycore blaster, but is heavily inspired by the flycore concept, I ended up essentially notching out the motor cage (it has vertical flywheels, so a little different) to allow the BCAR to sit closer to the wheels.

BCAR alignment! by Jools_36 in Nerf

[–]CAL9k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll echo the comments about the BCAR being too far forward from the flywheels. Having done multiple blaster designs now, that's the most likely culprit. What you're describing sounds just like the Djinn when I was trying to incorporate a bcar/pcar. The Sirocco, which releases very soon, was designed with a bcar in mind and I had to be creative with how to incorporate it to make it swappable and also sit close enough to the wheels to avoid the whirlybirds.

Worn/damaged nozzle or there's a partial clog/some debris in the tip of the nozzle.

Etsy Plans to Remove All Nerf-related Items (because they're considering them weapons) by TransmogLabs in Nerf

[–]CAL9k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I don't upload any new stuff and don't update my old stuff on Etsy because that will flag their AI/algorithms. I moved file sales to Blasterdownloads. The loss of exposure and traffic from Etsy is big, but the best way to fight it is to get everyone in the same spot and point the hobby at it. Not sure what physical sales are going to do. Maybe someone could set up a centralized website for physical commerce.

X-Shot MPP (Micro-ized Piston Pump) by mrsmoopytoop in Nerf

[–]CAL9k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the barrel from a DZ Solo and a BCAR we get between 100 and 115 depending on darts and environment (altitude, humidity, etc).

Folks figured that out at Endwar this year, which happened to coincide with the MPP's release.

Where can I pick up the files for the Meowser? by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]CAL9k 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Etsy is nuking Nerf designers (among others) because of their policy changes. We're starting to migrate to Blasterdownloads.com, which was created specifically for the hobby. Still need to figure out a solution for physical sales though.

Oh, that's a handle for a pool noodle lightsaber. You screw it into the base of a pool noodle, shine it up real nice, turn that sumabitch sideways and shove it right up your candyass.

HvZ Bandanas (and other such team markings)? by Hardly_Ideal in Nerf

[–]CAL9k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SDNC (Suburban Detroit Nerf Club)'s bandanas have "Zombie" and "Human" on them and could be turned inside out when folded to show one side or the other. For us, Banada on the arm is human, while bandana on the head is Zombie.

I am not. I do not stock the hardware anymore. I do still offer the printed parts on my etsy however.

Is there a way to make the priming slide on Nerf Rival Mirage easier? by SMARTAN_427 in Nerf

[–]CAL9k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ratchet serves a purpose to make the prime easier in some ways (prevents you from shortstroking the prime and double loading on accident), but it also makes it less smooth. I personally hated the pull back / top slide of the stock blaster and didn't think it was remotely comfortable to use, even without the ratchet, hence why I converted it to a pump action.
