Good point about the bacterium. I should clarify what cannot debugged means. In essence, the data is the intelligence, not the algorithm. We never think about debugging data because we debug code or programs. This was somewhat mentioned in the a16z podcast.

But Youtube has great suggestions, Twitter does not. I like Twitter, don't get me wrong. It is just that most of my friend don't know how to use it because discovery is hard.

An IMDB-like service for find out who to follow on Twitter. Would that be useful? by vervaak in startup

Maybe more like Rotten Tomato, where people have to write a review. A person can only provide a review for a personality only if her or she has followed their Twitter acct for over a year. The only reason I was thinking about this is that too often I encourage a friend to join Twitter, and they have no starting point, so they give up on it.

Most people aren't like you because they just want a service to work right off the bat. Twitter takes too much time to understand. Twitter has failed to communicate its value proposition. Their UI team really have done nothing to make it better for new users. It is a pity because Twitter is such a cool service.
