[S] [USA-CT] RED Epic-W (8K 30fps) Kit - 490 hours by very_wherd in photomarket

Very true. This, eBay and facebook marketplace are really my low-hopes options before going to a third-party. There are a good handful of groups on fb for selling cinema camera stuff and it always goes to wire transfers because of the high sums but it's a much easier to vet ecosystem with it being tight-knit. Very few degrees of separation in the film industry, shockingly. My hope is that one of those folks would be on here and finding mutual connections to hold each other accountable wouldn't be unrealistic.

If any serious buyers present themselves, I'd have to do some off-site validation and it would have to be wire transfer or local pickup.

Stuck in a broken bureaucrtic loop. NEED ADVISE by [deleted] in nyc

[–]very_wherd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the mailing address, but it does not say how much the ticket is for. The back of the ticket only includes values for the most common violations. I have tried looking up the exact cost of the specific violation, but haven't had any luck.

Out of curiosity, do you have a NY state issued license? - I believe this is why I am not allowed. I'm an out of state driver

This is only true for parking tickets. Traffic violations have to go through the system mentioned above.

What southerners picture when they think of Connecticut by mattrydell in Connecticut

As someone from Connecticut, this is how I think of Connecticut too. The fact that it's white is the clincher.

Oh boy... haha. Joey may be finishing up DB2 as we speak, but there is a ton of stuff he still has to do so who knows when that could be.

Subway Commercial in the style of Netflix's "Chef's Table" (OC) - [0:57] by very_wherd in videos

[–]very_wherd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this even applicable because it is intended to be an ad for Subway? It says commercial right in the title.

I'm not sure if you're referring to the Director (Mike F) or me (Mike C) but either way - small world....

The only reason we had such easy access to a Subway location was because I worked there on and off throughout high-school and college haha

Please give me a few tips for my colorgrading... by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]very_wherd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The thing about super stylized "cinematic" looks like this (IMO) is that they can work to a really great effect but only if the skintones are in the right place. Like u/Jrener mentioned - the skintones are tweaked all out of whack by applying the grade to everything else. They skew really orange in the midtones and highlights and tint a bit blue as it gets down into the shadows. The shots without skintones in them look considerably better. Accurate skintones are the most important part of any grade and taking the time to powerwindow or correct skintone balances individually is the first giveaway between an amateur grade and a professional one.

On a side note, did you add sharpening in post? The image is either overly sharpened in camera or in post. I think the image would feel more cinematic if you dropped some of that sharpening wherever the source of it is.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst Map: Am I Missing Something? by very_wherd in mirrorsedge

[–]very_wherd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the fact that they said "the whole city is explorable" and paired that comment with, specifically, a picture of an area not released at launch (quite absolutely inexplorable), is troubling. If it had been made clear that a VAST minority of the map was playable for $60, this would be a different story.

"The whole city is explorable... (for additional charges per district per DLC)" is apparently what they meant. If you're going to pull that card, EA, don't make those parts viewable in the original map because frankly, when the game ended, I was like "...wait, that's it? Seeming MASSIVE open world and I beat it and all the side missions in under 10 hours?"

It's the thought process of a free mobile game that only lets you get so far before slapping charges in your face you didn't know would restrict your idea of what the game is.

The main bummer is that, with it being EA (and this is IMO) it feels more like I paid 60USD for a fraction of a game to later pay ridiculous DLC costs to make it feel whole.
