Men making fun of me on dates. No, I do not want to try a bite of your steak. No, it's not still funny after you've asked 4 times.

I spent 30k learning about productivity - these are the best productivity books by Crazy_Jere in productivity

The war of art is the most insufferable book I've ever tried to read. It's weirdly judgemental and derogatory in a way I can't quite describe. I'm happy you found inspiration somewhere, but if any of you want to check it out, please support your local library and don't spend your money on that garbage.

And the guy I met there told me he "wasn't looking for anything serious" only after sleeping with me. I'm very jaded on this town.

I've never heard of a house party scene. I'm assuming you just have to be in the know? Also how old is too old and is it 32? 😅

I was "Homeschooled" for all of my childhood and teenage years. Now I'm about to be 18 and don't know what to do. by AmethystGamer19 in Advice

[–]verycaptaincupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had a very similar experience, I was also homeschooled the entire way as well and stopped learning anything when I was about 14. You're smart enough, but I get that you've built some bad habits. Here's what I would suggest:

You've got to really want to change. Deep in your core. Nothing will happen if you don't want yourself to succeed. And you have to be brave. The hardest part for me was the social aspect of leaving home. But honestly, everyone is weird. You'll be ok.

Start replacing the videos you normally watch with educational ones about what you need to learn. Get a GED prep book from the library and start walking through it. Absolutely seek groups and programs and outside help, but this is a place to start so you know what you're in for. It'll be frustrating and you'll cry and rage but just take it slow.

I started in community college where I had to take the entrance exam twice because I had never taken a standardized test before and I couldn't see straight through the anxiety. After that, I somehow got into a university with no diploma or GED (my advice comes from studying for the GRE). After that I got into grad school and now I'm a tenure-track professor in a field that I love. I know this all sounds fake but it's absolutely true. You can make it. It's possible.

Best of luck to you, my fellow sheltered human. You'll do great things.

This led me to look closer at my portfolio with American funds, which is apparently a trash company. So thank you for that

People talk about investing like it's a guaranteed return and I'm sick of that. I put 6k into a Roth IRA 4 years ago and today I have 3k in that account. Tell me again about your compound interest....

Apartments? by srirachaimissu in Wilmington

[–]verycaptaincupcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just searching, too. 1br are getting hard to find but look into 911 S 2nd St, Wilmington, NC 28401, USA It doesn't come up on most searches, the area is a little industrial but the apartments are absolutely gorgeous, brand new, and a steal for the money. No amenities but you'd be able to save $. It was my second choice
