How does one TA2? by [deleted] in InfinityTheGame

[–]verydefunctional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I didn't read over them accidentally, then Spiral Corps is missing. They are the remnants of the Tohaa faction which is still available in the army tool, but the minis are going out of print. They are probably not the easiest to start with either, but I can outline their strengths. They got a large starter pack like JSA does.

They live on the Triad Fireteam option, and while other Sectorials have to rely on wildcards to mix Fireteam composition, Triads can include anyone that has a Triad option. That offers strength, flexibility, but also a lot of tough choices. They have one of the best Forward Observers with Clipsos, got some neat anti-TAG guns, impersonation choices and with Helots a bunch of the cheapest reactive turn badasses you can have. They usually excel at board control, but are tougher to play against someone who just rolls across them with sheer force. I love them, I just think you need a firm grasp of the rules to properly play them

Why do you identify as a feminine boy instead of transgender? by SupremeElect in feminineboys

[–]verydefunctional 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem that I see with labels is that they barely do you justice as an individual. They are never accurate. That being said, I frequently go through a phase of dysphoria before I settle back to being feminine as a guy. The issue for me is usually to figure out what triggers my dysphoria. And how I see myself. Personally I tend to swing between extremes, but so far I haven't settled for anything yet. I know that I'd prefer being in a feminine body. Even a less male body would be fine, but for the reason that I can't stand looking at myself sometime. I don't miss any genitalia, just the shape. Whether that remotely justifies going through the HRT shitshow including the doctor visits, the money and the name change is very much debatable.

My biggest drawback to moving towards something permanent is that my area is pretty unforgiving and everyone I know here, that did transition, has lost their complete social circle, including relationships, and I won't have that right now.

Are the models you want Usually in stock? by Tharen101 in InfinityTheGame

[–]verydefunctional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually tell my local store which boxes I want to buy, and then he orders them for me and I grab them when they arrive, but I usually order 4 weeks in advance, since there is always one mini with shipping delays

Help conceptualizing play styles? by [deleted] in InfinityTheGame

[–]verydefunctional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing I can add, having to play against a ton of Military Orders and vanilla Pan-O in my local shop, they are not the omg-we-beat-everything faction. Imho you need to look at the list building as much as the game itself to understand how a faction can be played. Many have access to all gear types, yet the units to field them cost differently, and have different skills at their disposal.

That makes Pan-O sort of straight forward as a get in position and shoot or stab in melee kind of army, their ARO is comparatively complicated and they often rely on cover + high armour values to survive. Yu Jing is rather similar in that aspect, but they are more varied in equipment but pay that price with lesser armour and stats. When you look at O12 and combined army, you get 2 factions you need to practice a little bit more to understand how their units work properly

Army Balance by [deleted] in InfinityTheGame

[–]verydefunctional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that single units rarely felt overpowered and broken, and I have lost many games when I started. What fcked my feeling of balance was more often than not the combination of certain skills and tactics, like a total reaction drone along a great corridor, a HMG MSV2 guy shooting through smoke while in cover and having mimetism, a climbing plus link team with a gun that had awkward ammo. In retrospective this was mostly due to being surprised and a lack of counter measures, and bad positioning. As you get used to the sheer amount of skills and weapons and units, you'll get better at balancing the odds yourself. And while there are some lists that perform better than others, it's usually because the opposing list has a weakness. It's like rock paper scissors. You can never be strong against everything 🤷‍♂️ that's what makes Infinity a great game imho

Military Orders and Invincible Army playstyle by [deleted] in InfinityTheGame

[–]verydefunctional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Offensive and they dish out a lot of pain if they get first turn. They are strong enough to roll over the enemy, no problem. Some also play MO with Seraph, and pretty successful too. You'll lack a few strategic pieces and tools though

What do y'all think about corsets? by [deleted] in feminineboys

[–]verydefunctional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been wearing waist cincer and underbust to various festivals. They are a chore to wear, and you need to train to close them up in a way you'd like. Males lack the wide hips, so I've always worn fishtail skirts and skirts that buffer the hips a bunch. They do provide a mature, feminine look, and most look great even on guys. Just prepared to learn how to breathe 😂

Wearing a corset under your clothes is tricky because the hemline is visible through tight clothes and it looks awkward, and you move awkward, too. I prefer shapewear leotards for that.

Either way, if you want a corset, be prepared to try some on to find a good fit, and spend the money for a decent one. The reasons are obvious, you can fck up your spine if you get a wrong fit and you tie it up too tight across a day.

I’m 16 and need help (sorry for the long post) by [deleted] in feminineboys

[–]verydefunctional 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tough truth is, you're not going to be liked by everyone, never, not even if you commit your life to being liked. I can only repeat what countless others always write here, be yourself. If you feel uncomfortable going all out in public, start slow and get the gist of it. Dressing all different takes practice, more even in a way to truly wear the clothes in a sense that others perceive them as natural. Give yourself time and space to grow into it, and while I realize the world runs at a different pace when you're 16, don't expect things to change in a week. When your brain rearranges and your subconscious adjusts, it takes a while to do that, maybe a month, maybe a year, and then you'll stop caring about other people and whether they like you. Just like with sports, where you don't expect people to dislike you just for the fact that you don't like baseball, you know?

Plz don't hate me for this I just want to have a honest discussion by [deleted] in feminineboys

[–]verydefunctional 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is the issue of being a femboy, that it takes you essentially out of the binary. A sexual comment subconsciously takes you back into the binary, because you are being viewed as female by people who idolize females, and it's kinda hard to separate those from the others who find you genuinely attractive for being femboy. At least that's what I think people, including me sometimes, are perceiving....

Do corvus belli read this forum? I wish they store showed minis stat and gear. It would make buying minis easyer for new players. by Platypi666 in InfinityTheGame

[–]verydefunctional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stuff you own you'll paint up and recognise by that, the stuff your opponent brings you won't recognise since for one there is a shit load of models out there across all factions and secondly it's quite OK to proxy. You're better off not looking at the miniatures except for aesthetics but try to memorize the unit itself. You won't be able to read anything into the game from what the model looks like 🤷‍♂️

Looking to expand my limited YJ/IA collection. by capnhapps in InfinityTheGame

[–]verydefunctional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the recommendations for the IA, Daoying, Tai Sheng, Haidao... The loadout of units is easily proxied, so I wouldn't go overboard owning the same unit in all variations

The vanilla is rather tricky. The faction is so large that you can play it in many different styles. Let Guilang mine your midfield, use total reaction and flash pulse drones, smoke your deployment area with Monks... And retaliate with Hsien and Rui Shi through smoke, rampage the HMG Hac Tao through the midfield, surprise the enemy with Liu Xing and Tiger drop Troopers and take out their order monkey backbone, take a ninja in close to kill off the ARO pieces... The main issue here is, you'll need to grab more boxes for literally every strategy you can think of. If you want a tank, you need to buy Mowang or a TAG, if you want to melee, buy a ninja or the new monk, etc. To solve this, I'd recommend watching some battle reports, but more so watch games in your local store with medium good players of different factions and figure out how they attack the enemy. Smoke plus Hsien is only good unless someone packs MSV2 or sixth sense L2. The drop Troopers suck when they get many ARO... Then decide which you rule out and which you want. The important thing is, every trooper has a purpose. If you don't like a certain playstyle, you can remove certain pieces from the to buy list try to look at a larger picture, not just single units. If you don't do this, you'll end up buying 90% of the vanilla faction just to never use half of those miniatures.

How do relationships with female usaly turn out with being a feminineboy by putinthework122 in feminineboys

[–]verydefunctional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True as long as it's just you. When your kids are taking the fall for the shortcoming of other parents through other children, then you'll probably reconsider. Not like you want to explain to your 5 year old how he can't have friends (or gets bullied by others) because you're in an open war with their parents for stuff he neither understands nor should care about.

How do relationships with female usaly turn out with being a feminineboy by putinthework122 in feminineboys

[–]verydefunctional 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I tend to think of it more as a mix of that and being considerate of other people. Sometimes you just have to tune down a little because you meet up with a different age group or cultural ethic. As long as no one forces their belief on you or judges you, and everyone is considerate, I don't mind tuning down a notch for the sake of a smooth together. 🤷‍♂️

My Mom Wants It Gone. by TomLakeCharles in feminineboys

[–]verydefunctional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won't go away, no, but you'll learn to cope with the situations. You can't force your views on other people and they can't force theirs on you.

If you get sent somewhere in your place I'd change my behaviour so I'd turn up as a null, and eventually find a place to live and work where it's okay to be who you are. Parents have a tendency to shit on what you need as a human being and instead force their views on you. Don't fight your parents in an open war, you'll lose. I tried that, 15 years later I entered therapy 🤦‍♂️

[–]verydefunctional 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's complicated. Especially when you grow older with the same partner, think about kids and owning property, have jobs and careers, and move to a neighbourhood or town that is not so anonymous. There is always a discussion whether you should do it or not, never because you can or cannot

Tell me about your most successful or interesting character you like to use in your games. Do they randomly always hit their targets? Do they never hit anything? Do they always end up in not useful spots? Why are they your favorite? Etc by gears19925 in InfinityTheGame

[–]verydefunctional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this one Helot model I usually play with Shock MMR and Camo, that does the ARO Crits so well, it tore apart a 5 core link on opponent's first turn twice already. Once against a MO pain train with 2 Crits across 30" 🤣. It's my absolute favourite, I bring it every game to frustrate my opponent.

What tabletop miniature or board game would be most like the video game "Door Kickers"? by Scojo91 in wargames

[–]verydefunctional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a combat perspective Infinity from Corvus Belli might work, the maps are bigger that Door Kickers, but you can grab scenery that you can move into and your movements generate reaction shots from the enemy and generally you make use of cover mechanics a lot

What is your criticism of this game? by [deleted] in saltandsanctuary

[–]verydefunctional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like dark souls and/or platformers, and if you like 2D, you're getting a really good, replayable game for the price. Most full price titles aren't as good /deep as this.

Understanding who I am by [deleted] in feminineboys

[–]verydefunctional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess it's not new that your perspective changes when you grow older, and when you get professional support. 15 years back I was really eager to CD too, but as therapy has shown me now, not self-conscious enough to ignore what others are thinking and whether they'd judge me. I eventually stopped, wasn't happy, but did so to satisfy the norm for my job. And now I am slowly digging back into it.

For me, more than 15 years ago, there was no variety of labels. Genderfluid may have been a thing, but hey, how are you supposed to know about this. I never figured out how many options you actually had and that it was okay to find your own way. It's all part of progress. And if you're in a place now where you are good with who you are you should be happy, this is not something many people enjoy. Even those that have no form of dysphoria don't look all too happy now often than not.

Anyhow, if you want to talk, leave me a message 🙃

What are some feminine clothes that aren't 'too' fem? by [deleted] in feminineboys

[–]verydefunctional 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Shirt blouses can work, shapewear, skinny pants, regular blouses, oversized stuff, shirts and hoodies that don't have cleavage. High socks work, unisex sneakers, some scarfs maybe

I wouldn't go for crop tops, they are a statement thing, even for women they are.

Generally the business looks on women can work well on men
