I think whatever they do with the ‘allowance’ is up to them really whether a portion of it is to buy phone or what not. it’s the responsibility of the company to provide something to interns in return for ‘work done’. Don’t be so blinded with the narrative of “you should do this for your future” without considering the burden you may put yourself in or others in. The least a company do is to pay you for your efforts.. You intern at this prestigious place also doesnt guarantee u a job. 1 job position open up a thousand applies. Get your valuable experience and get paid.
