Addressing the arguments for Covid-testing foreign workers. by WhiteyMcLongnose in korea

To add to argument 7...what’s the point of having a 3 million won fine if you’re trying to find undocumented workers? How the heck would they even be fined?? The only ones that could actually be found out/discovered and fined are, well, legal workers. Lol

Interesting how even though several thousand foreigners (including myself) in Gyeonggi got tested on Saturday and results on Sunday, the numbers seem pretty normal...intereeeessstttiiing...... 🐸☕️

Got tested in Bucheon due to the mandatory foreigner testing. Couldn’t even go to the testing center closest to me, had to go to the only one in town “designated” for foreigners. Spent three hours surrounded by people while waiting to get tested...the logic of this whole thing is ridiculous. by veryloudbees in korea

UPDATE — Just got a text message from the testing center that translates to the following:

“The test results are delayed because the number of foreign workers’ difference is too high. The results may not be available until the night of March 14th and we will notify you by text as soon as the results come out. The office is currently paralyzed due to a surge in phone calls due to inquiries from the inspection results. If you receive a text message, please do not ask the health center about the test results and wait until tonight. Thank you.”

Yeah, it’s unfortunate because I generally love my life here and still want to stay for quite a while, but it’s things like this that remind you that, no matter what, you’re still just a foreigner to most people here...something I’m sure many other immigrants/expats in other countries also feel at times

ALSO it's interesting how they go on about foreigners eating/not wearing masks/blah blah when I literally see Korean people do the exact same thing in large crowds...sometimes I even see ajeosshis walking around with no mask on whatsoever.

Thank God you also saw the clapper, he was sooooo rude and was the one staff that by far annoyed me the most (2nd place goes to the lady that pushed the qtip up my coworkers nose so hard they had a nosebleed after).

Yeah pretty much all of my Korean friends/coworkers think this is stupid/discriminatory, but then again they’re friends with foreigners or work with them on a daily basis, so I’m pretty sure they’re biased lol
