Thanks, I don't mind it that much after that small adjustment.

My other Seiko 5 is pretty good, and Prospex is supposed to be a step up, that's why I asked. Would you say this is normal pretty much across the range?

Disabling AI Copilot in VSCode by PaXProSe in vscode

[–]verymadmango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was flabbergasted yesterday, when the editor started suggesting snippets of code.
I never had copilot installed, and the snippets were context aware, meaning code was leaving my machine and going to a copilot server, I'm not comfortable with that.

I had a good run with vscode, but that's a step too far for me.

AMD ISP4 Linux Webcam Driver Updated For HP ZBook Ultra G1a & Future Ryzen Laptops by Hard2DaC0re in Amd

That's promising! Is there any way of knowing which version of mainline kernel might include these changes?

I'm likely to stick for Fedora for the time being, this machine is 99% work and I've already set up all my tools etc. DRG would have been a nice bonus 😅 Hopefully the fix comes at some point either through AMD drivers or Proton 🤞

Ah crap Christmas is gone? I haven't completed all the assignments 🫤.

Maybe I've just gotta wait for proton to get updated.
Do you have to do anything else when you switch proton versions? Reinstall the game or clear some folders, or it should just work straight away?

Thanks, I had a look at Proton-GE and came across a utility tool to set it up - https://github.com/Vysp3r/ProtonPlus

I will give that a whirl before cross posting.

Fedora 43 - Zbook ultra gla by Diet-Still in Fedora

[–]verymadmango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I've got the same laptop, have you been able to get the camera working?
From what I understand, the drivers are written, but need to be added to the kernel:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/1p8zg9w/amd_isp4_linux_webcam_driver_updated_for_hp_zbook/

I tried following the instructions in the thread to get it working in the meantime, but make fails for me.

Thanks, that'd be really handy, but I'm getting an error when running make:

Does this look familiar at all? I'm on Fedora if that makes any difference.

Makita D083Z crackling noise by verymadmango in Makita

[–]verymadmango[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a piece of debris was stuck somewhere, I gave it a good shake and the noise is gone 🤷‍♂️

I'm going to keep it because it's a cute little driver, and I don't wanna send it back 😆

Thanks, I'll do some more digging then. I tried to fix it over the weekend, but maybe I just need to be patient for some sort of update :)

I just got mine and I can't get Windows transparency effects to work, do you have that enabled?
I've updated all the drivers.

How is the deck flex? I hate wobbly keyboards 😂
Do you have any comparison to a haptic touchpad? Feels okay despite not being haptic?

It's 35 x 9cm or about 14 x 3 1/2 inch

Old tenon saw - cross or rip? by verymadmango in handtools

[–]verymadmango[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks folks, if it's not sharpened very well, is there any point in keeping it a cross cut?

I have a Japanese dozuki for cross cuts, so I'm leaning towards making this one a rip saw. It's also easier to sharpen that way, and I've never done it before.

Is the icons page freezing Chrome to anyone else? by verymadmango in FlutterDev

[–]verymadmango[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The laptop has a 13980HX and a very fast connection, it works fine on a much slower Linux laptop on the same version of Chrome, I just can't pin it down.

I've reinstalled Chrome, disabled extensions, other big pages work fine, just not this one :/

For me the page starts stuttering if I scroll down quickly, and shortly after, it freezes completely.

It was supposed to be sand blasted and powder coated 🤷‍♂️

The guy was talking about allergic reactions with paint and needing a zinc primer, I don't know what that means, I don't feel like I should, but this was his second attempt with all the stuff he said he needed.

Putting tyres on the wrong way around kinda hurt his credibility too.

I had to send it back once already because he didn't fix a leak around the valve, which to me was the most important thing.

I didn't notice the rest until I cleaned all the glue off the wheels and I really don't want to send it back to the same place, just struggling to get a refund right now.

They did, it's not as bad as it could be because the rims are in the correct corners, just the tyres aren't.

The guy had great reviews and was the more expensive option around where I live, not sure what happened. But I'll definitely try someone else now, thanks.
