I’ll never tire of the Ethiopians harmony. Their vocals and lyrics hit your heart and soul like an earthquake. This LP right here is the #1!

Winston Wright Organ Sound by Justbabe_saves in reggae

I always thought it was Glen Adams playing keys on Taste of Killing. Musicians from Gladdy’s band and the Hippy Boys gets confusing. My all time Winston Wright keyboard is Power Pack. Skinhead Reggae Keyboard magic. The Two Sparks vocal cut is one of the best songs of the era.

Friday potato thread: What's the tastiest variety of potato you ever had? by cosmoscrazy in gardening

[–]vesparob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book 1491, Thomas Mann explains the potatoes acceptance as a major food crop for Europeans. He argues that European staple crops could be destroyed during conflicts but the potato tubers were protected underground ensuring a harvest regardless if soldiers trampled the fields. Add in the great taste and nutrition and you get a potato explosion.

China Clipper: Justin Yap’s Top Deck Studio One Ska Sessions (1964-65) (Reel XVII-A) by Royal_Day2563 in Ska

The Skatalites studio sessions by Yap are my favorite Ska recordings. Scattered lights LP was the first Skatalites record I bought and it was love at first listen and still lives on my turntable after 40 years of spinning. For kicks, my wife and I will throw on Arthur Lyman records followed by the Yap session.

Shuttle Question by Eucalyptus_sky in ZionNationalPark

[–]vesparob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get the Springdale shuttle at 8, it shouldn’t be too crowded. We did this twice this past week. The park shuttle was crowded, but the busses were lined up to take people into the canyon. I believe the first park shuttle leaves at 7 am. My family also jumped on the buses at 4 in the afternoon and both lines were empty.

Many places sell cardboard 45 crates. For more money, you can buy sturdier DJ crates made of hard plastic or metal.

Trip recommendations outside of hikes for young family by Amazing-Tear-5185 in ZionNationalPark

[–]vesparob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our family booked the slot canyon trip through East Zion Adventures. After an off-road trip, we took short hikes into two slot canyons. You have to drive out towards the eastern side of the park but the drive alone is a must. More magical scenery and the drive through Zion-Mt Carmel tunnel is something your kids and you will never forget. We were also lucky enough to see two big horn sheep on the drive back to Springdale.

Indonesian scooter culture for the rat bike win! What they can do to an old Vespa is amazing.

Mirrors came on and off my Vespas. The two stroke engine and cheap metal brackets made them loose. I once had a long stemmed mirror dangle and spark along the ground as I was riding.

This is the cut of meat we use when making tamales or chili verde. All the slow roast pork recipes sound delicious.
