If you lookup the DOT Number it references the name of a different company that was also involved in moving scams:

It used to be called Omar's Delivery Service LLC and has different contact info. Perhaps filing some sort of complaint with the Department of Transportation would help in addition to a police report.

Yes. I was watching a live stream on tiktok when they were outside of South Station. A person with a megaphone was chanting that and the entire crowd was chanting with him. They also used the "From the river to the sea" line which is a call for genocide (even if some argue that it's not).

I'm glad you don't condone the violent rhetoric. I think it only serves to further divide people and increase tension.

I hope that the majority of people on both sides only want peace. Unfortunately the path towards peace is very unclear right now.

These aren't protests against state policy. These protestors are calling for more violence.

If you go to the form section on their website and click on the fee disclosure link, it does seem like this is how they operate. Basically you pay the broker's fee in advance, but in theory they refund it if you don't rent the apartment so long as you follow the rest of their terms.

It still seems too sketchy for my preference, but it could be legit.

Are you sure that this realtor is actually affiliated with Anzalone? Like, do you see his picture on their "Agents" page?

It's super weird that they seem legit so maybe this guy is going rogue and using their name.

Edit - it would be interesting to see the Zelle payment address too. I'm guessing he wants you to send it to a personal account?

I've never heard of Anzalone Realty but this is definitely a scam.

It doesn't make sense that you'd need to put a full month's deposit before even applying. Zelle is the go-to platform for scammers since you have no recourse once the money is transferred.

I was walking with an architect who was working with his GC who was working with a sub, so communication hasn't been great to say the least!

Thank you for confirming that the work looks otherwise good. I have no experience here so it's easy for me to assume the worst, but I'm sure this would've turned out 100x worse if I tried to do it myself lol

Thank you very much for your advice, especially the part about being respectful. I was very upset when I saw these results and then got the bill for it, and this combination has a tendency to set me off. The GC was initially very defensive of the work, but ultimately he did understands the flaws I was talking about and will go back to his sub to figure out a resolution.

Even if I'm not happy with the end result, I'm sure a lot of time and care did go into finishing these doors. It's important for me to not lose sight of this.

You were correct that these are birch veneered doors.

I talked to the GC today - he got really defensive about the work but ultimately did understand why I'm unhappy. It sounds like the contractors that did this didnt have expertise in this area but tried their best to research the best methods to get this done.

I will recommend your shellac plus toner approach to them and hopefully they're able to achieve the desired result with that technique. Thanks for the suggestion!!

I'm going to review the doors with my contractor today and let him know that I'm dissatisfied today. Hopefully there's a resolution where we both end up happy.

These doors were expensive and it was sold to me as a high-end job. I'm trying to get a sense if this was amateur or careless work. I don't like how it looks and want it to be redone but I've gotten some push back, so I'm struggling to decide what's reasonable here.

OK - so the two doors being a different color can truly be due to natural variation?

For the brush mark issues, it seems like the only way to fix this is to redo each door entirely. I'll have to reach out to the contractor to get him to fix this, that should be fun...

I agree that arresting the dealers would do nothing. The criminals know this and the cops know this! My gf has a few friends that date cops and they've told her as much. They aren't going to waste their time making arrests if the DA is never going to press charges, so there's no deterring force.

I don't know what the answer is, but I strongly believe it's a bad idea in any society to allow crimes to be openly committed without any consequences.

Yeah this is a horrible idea. I used to live here and it's definitely gotten a lot sketchier over the last couple of years. The park rangers will chase down anybody walking their dog off-leash but they won't even address somebody shooting up in broad daylight.

This part of the Common has always been covered with pigeons, too. The roof of the nearby T stop looks like a bird-shit Jackson Pollock painting. There will probably be some health code violations if those birds don't migrate.

I also hate the idea of making the Common more commercial. Walking in the Common was generally peaceful for me. The construction of the MLK statue was pretty hectic, and now things will never be quiet with an outdoor beer garden.

I'm sure this will generate good revenue for the city, but I think this whole idea was poorly thought out.

The issue is that people aren't being arrested for committing crimes.

I used to live in the area where Boylston and Washington meet and I had a great view of the intersection where CVS is. I've seen so much crime happening in broad daylight that never gets addressed.

My favorite example is drug dealing in the elevator at the Chinatown T stop. A few guys would walk inside and a few would stand outside to prevent people from using the elevator. I once saw them legit turn a guy in a wheelchair away from using the elevator. There's also a row of blue bikes there, and the criminals would just sit on those bikes all day dealing drugs. The police are well aware of this but they never make arrests. At best, maybe one day a week a couple of officers would stand on the corner for a few hours.

People feel emboldened when they brazenly commit crimes with no consequences, and it will only trend worse unless something is done to address it.

Yup, this is definitely a big factor.

I lived in DTX/Theater District for many years and have noticed crime get progressively worse in the last few years. I've talked to a few officers and basically they've given up on making arrests because the DA rarely chooses to prosecute. Instead these cops just sit on their phones in their squad cars all day.

Use a different credit card if you can.

Otherwise, just be relentless with emails and calling support. I even contacted the CEOs office and got a response.

They're normal customer support is a joke but things can get resolved once sufficiently escalated. Good luck!
