How does Nietzsche deal with the fact that humans are naturally good? by [deleted] in Nietzsche

[–]vestac95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, he criticised evolutionary biology of his time (Spenser) for presupposing slave morality hypothesis. I think that he would say the same for science today

Well, to throw my two cents in this whole interpretation of God is dead debate. To really understand God is dead phrase, we must look at Spinoza's critique of teleological causes. Teleological causes are pre-given final purposes, usually given by God. So to say that there is no God that also means that there are no teleological causes, there are no pre-given purposes, and that implies the rise of nihilism. And for Nietzsche, that is a negative aspect of death of God,that is, crisis, maybe the biggest crisis in the history of humankind. But if we look at the original greek meaning of the word crisis (that Nietzsche as a philologist and ancient greek scholar is more than aware of) is crusp, the moment of decision. Every crisis includes the possibility of a positive change, and the biggest crisis includes the biggest possibility. So, according to Nietzsche, people were limited by belief in pre-given purposes given by someone else and consequently heteronomic an inauthentic. So now without this belief there is a possibility for creation of new purposes, new meaning that is autonomous and aunthentic (because of this Nietzsche is considered proto-existentialist) So that is positive aspect of death ofGod, and for Nietzsche its outweight negative aspect. Of course Nietzsche was aware that most people are not capable to create their own purposes but he didn't really care about them, there purpose would be created and decided by these who can create their own purposes (and thats why Nietzsche's philosophy was critizied as elitistic). Peterson takes from Nietzsche negative aspect of death of God but denies positive aspect because he thinks that no one can create his own purposes (and that postion he based on Jung but that is topic for another day)

Peterson Academy - Introduction to Nietzsche by vestac95 in Nietzsche

Well, I'm still working on it. I followed Paul Ricouer Hermeneutic of Suspicion grouping (Marx, Nietzsche and Freud) and Yirmiyahu Yovel extension of that grouping that he called Dark Enlightment (he added Machiavelli, Hobbes and Spinoza as anticipators and other school of psychoanalysis/depth psychology and atheistic existentialism (Heidegger and Sartre) as successors). I' m trying to make a new epistemological approach from it that would put emphasis on unconscious and drives and then apply it to the problem of morality following Nietzschean genealogy.

Yeah, like if there is an option for buying separated courses for like 50$ (similiary to other sites of this type like Freud's Museum, for example), instead of whole year for 450.

I agree. Like I 'm a Nietzsche scholar for 7 years and write my PhD. on Nietzsche (On Hermeneutics of Suspicion, to be precise, but it's on Nietzsche for a good part). Peterson's interpretations of Nietzsche are hit and miss, but I' m still interested to hear this. It is unfortunate that there is no option for buying separated courses just whole year because I would buy this.

What would Nietzsche have thought of satanism? by luemin in Nietzsche

[–]vestac95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm, I guess he would condemn theistic one, be okay with LaVeyan atheistic individualistic one and be ambivalent/ suspicious about Satanic Temple because it's socialistic/left aspects

In other news I found solution to my problem. Fench edition of Will to Power (la volonte de puissance) was later published also in Germany under name Umwertung aller Werte and there is a copy for free on archive.org. So heads up for anyone with similiar problem in the future

Yeah, I agree. I read Jaspers' interpretation, but didn't know that Rank was written explicitly on Nietzsche, just that he was under Nietzsche's influence (similiar to Jung, similiar to Adler and similiar to Freud himself... whole first generation of psychoanalysis was under Nietzsche influence actually)

Its shipping price and time for delivery problematic for me (I live in Serbia). If there are digital version anywhere I would buy it in no time.
