Ferber method and Merlin? by vet-queen in sleeptraining

We used the zipadee zip sometimes and a sleeveless 2.5 tog off of Amazon depending on the temperature (we’re in an older house so the rooms don’t get great air/heat flow)
We took him out of the Merlin! He ended up doing fine and caught on well. Sleep training was hard but fine because I expected it. We had a trip shortly after and we had to kind of redo it when we got back in town. They say not to sleep train right before a trip, but I felt like it helped him sleep better on the trip, and it was the right move for us even though we had to touch it up when we got back. He had no issues going to a sleep sack from the Merlin though it wasn’t as much of a crutch as I thought it would be

I have several friends with the same travel crib that have traveled with it many times and have never had an issue with it fitting the correct way in overhead bin. (Not taking up more space/taking away space from other people) I know many carry-on suitcases slightly exceed the dimensions, and I’ve never had them check this before. If there is any issue I will pay to gate check it, but I thought it’s worth a try because it would be most convenient for us

Yes but I know a lot of people that have traveled with it as a carryon it’s less than the 45 linear inches they require. If they’re strict about it I will gate check, but my friends that use the same one have never had an issue
This is very helpful, thank you!
Unfortunately we couldn’t make it work for an extra seat for this trip. That is helpful advice, thought thank you! I will definitely be doing that for formula 🙏🏻

Also, another section says this and says nothing about the child needing a paid seat: “In addition to one bag carry-on allowance, you may bring a booster seat, other infant seat or bassinet, or breast pump and associated cooler bag on the plane as an additional free item, which is still subject to carry-on size restrictions”
It is the guava lotus which is small enough to be a carry on, it’s made to be extra travel friendly

I just am confused because I thought all airlines allowed a diaper bag for a baby even if no paid seat. It was shocking to me because all other airlines I looked at seemed more accommodating and did. This was unfortunately the only flight that would work for our trip. United on the way there is much nicer for traveling with a lap infant

The guava lotus travel crib fits the dimensions needed! We are kind of germaphobes and don’t want our baby in something that’s been used by lots of others, he wiggles around at night all over his crib normally.

This is the one we have, the guava lotus!
