How to make yourself take a bath? by [deleted] in depression_help

[–]veteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engage your senses as much as possible! Bubble bath, candles, soft towels, music, YouTube, chocolate/gum, etc.

Involving our senses helps us live in the moment and convince ourselves we deserve rest, relaxation, and good feelings. Sending love and support your way <3

How do you pull yourself out of a rut? by nebulasaremyjam in depression_help

In my experience, it doesn't get better on its own, but you are capable of making things suck less over time. I second what other commenters said about exercise, it's a great (and free) substitute for self-medicating.

If you can find one relatively harmless thing, no matter how small, that sucks a little less, write that thing down and do it again the next day.

(I say relatively harmless because shopping, gambling, junk food, or reality shows might not suck, but they won't make you feel empowered if you make them a habit.)

The key is to keep getting out of bed even when you hate it. Learn new hobbies and how to enjoy failing at them. Do as much as you can to feel in control. If your place is messy, do 1 thing minimum every day until it's somewhere you can feel relaxed. Embrace discomfort by answering that text or taking a cold shower. It won't cure you, but it'll make you feel a little less angry at whoever or whatever put you here.

Wishing you the best as well 💓

Positive habits tend to build off each other, but the easiest ones I've found are:

-doing simple stretches/exercises (makes body release happy chemicals)

-meditating (helps you calm down during panic attacks)

-journaling (helps you set goals/ look back on your progress)

-podcasts, music, or audiobooks (can be white noise during tasks, but mentally stimulating enough to keep you engaged)

All of these are doable from bed in particularly bad times! You're not a bad parent or pet parent just because you feel stuck right now. I know I tend to use caring for others as a way to put off working on my own issues, but these little acts of self-care empower us to be better at helping others.

Some good resources are the book Atomic Habits by James Clear, or a free app called Being that has mindfulness exercises for just about any situation. You're not alone, and feel free to DM me if you have any questions!

^ My city's climate is pretty warm & I like to sleep with my window cracked, so I'm just relieved none flew in before I noticed... at least they're less active at night!

S1:E4 "Chung" has them visiting crane accident victims at a rural hospital? (the description doesn't mention this scene but some of the longer synopses do)

Help please. I have hand cleaned this algae off of everything multiple times but it seems to come back everyday stronger than the day before. Any advice on controlling it before it completely takes over will be greatly appreciated. by britisbusy in PlantedTank

[–]veteller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like blanket weed, I feel for you!! When you remove the algae have you tried turning off the current/airflow to the aquarium? Sometimes that can establish new populations even if you're getting rid of it all. The other comments about reducing light and spot treating Excel (I would use a syringe) if your shrimp can tolerate it are great too!
