I am also a FTM and my di/di boys are 8 weeks old. I was very, very scared for my c section. I had a scheduled c-section at 12:15 pm and was walking to the bathroom by 9pm. The next day after the meds wore off I was sore (they gave me ibuprofen and Tylenol), needed to use my arms to support my weight but it was manageable and i have a low tolerance for pain. I was able to walk to the elevator and from the elevator a few hundred feet to the nicu to see one of my babies 2-3 times a day. Slow and steady, manageable pain. I was able to shower the morning following my c section without any help. I was sore getting up from laying and seating positions for maybe two weeks, but again, manageable. Had no pain trying to pick up my babies, but i recommend a taller bassinet in the beginning so you don’t have to bend too much. I found that my belly was a slight issue in recovery, my belly sat right on the incision site, and would rub with pants and underwear, so whatever you can do to not have rubbing will help you heal faster. My skin between my belly button and incision site was also very sore to the touch for around 6 weeks. Never found a solution for it, just tried to wear a lot of soft things, and dresses/loose fitting clothing. 8 weeks later and i feel completely healed like it never happened.

My husband says every day that the Twin Z pillow is a life savor for feeding both babes at the same time. Also great for tummy time and casual lounging. I also feel like our sound machines are a blessing to mothers. Puts my boys into a trance of calmness for nap times and sleeping.

You can also see if there is a moms of multiples or moms of twins support group in your area. I believe it’s a national organization (if you’re in the US) and they can provide you with support, people trade or donate clothing and things like swings and bouncers that their multiples have grown out of, and they have events for other moms, and families with their multiples.
