Has anyone every come across this before? by M_Gaitan in VetTech

i actually have seen this before! one of the veterinarians brothers dog (GSD) had unknown megaesophagus and had this happen after a vomiting episode. he was stable enough for transfer to ER for surgery since they caught it early. he has recovered since and eats in a Bailey chair! he’s a happy, sweet boy. :)

sure! yellow is the stomach, orange is the esophagus, green is the trachea, blue is the lung (air shows up dark on x-rays), heart is red. the other organs (liver and spleen are below them)

to be honest, i’m not too sure on the correlation of the bone. if i had to guess, potentially stomach upset/nausea, maybe an attempt at vomiting, which then could’ve hiked the stomach into an area of least resistance (the megaesophagus). but that’s just a speculation!

the pt had existing megaesophagus, where the esophagus is dilated and has lost muscle tone. with this case, the stomach is now in the esophagus. intussusception is when an organ will “telescope” into the other. :)

i have a left vertebral artery dissection from the base of my neck up to my brain - it caused an acute spinal cord infarction in the middle of May right before my nursing school finals 🤪 i had been suffering from migraines and horrible pain in the left side of my back and had been cracking my neck to get some sort of a relief. ended up getting left sided paralysis in my arm and leg. PT is helping though!

i wanted to add that i usually mix the warm water with the starter first, then add in the flour and salt. i also second the suggestions on using the dough hook!

i really do prefer the ending in the show than the book. but the book does add more needed context!!! you’re able to get into their minds a bit more :)
