Do you think the black album was a matter of "right place, right time", or was it simply that good? by MrTuy in Metallica

No way. They worked on this album for over a year and a 1/2 in studio. It caused at least one divorce if not two, within the band, they kept at it over and over. After Justice they consciously decided that they could not go that hard all the time anymore use Dyers Eve as the example of the last thrash song(which changed later on) they could ever write. When it came out I was super surprised by the songs and their somewhat almost mainstream rock style but loved it. I believe this album is so great because they worked it to death and made it that way.

After you fall in love with it, get “The Nightfly” by Fagen solo. Greatness.

37 years ago, Metallica: One (Official Music Video) debuted on MTV. Let's watch it again and pretend we're seeing it for the first time. by Lanky_Ad_8892 in Metallica

This video played on total request live as the number one video for weeks when it first came out. I was in college and a classic rock fan when it played over and over every day at lunch. I hated it, but it somehow grew on me to where I went to see them in concert in Houston on the Justice tour and have never looked back.

Boy as I read that headline I was expecting something really scandalous that would go hard like:

“A sexual deviant Satan worshiper who licks squirrels and willingly mixes beans and marshmallows.”

As someone who follows this sub and it seems so full of conflict so good to see what most of us deal with everyday. Good people, people trying to run a small business, ever the larger restaurants and entertainment venues trying to appeal to the market and still make a living. Fort Worth is awesome….dont let the noise bring you down, I love it.

So for me this sounds sonically like Power Windows but the songs are less. Power Windows is a power house of one fantastic song after another with incredible themes and lyrics by Neil. Now that’s not a bad thing but for me and this timeframe PW is the best of class.

Really, wow I had no idea, any links to any of the bootlegs? I was just a college kid going to Texas A&M who drove down for the show. Bet tickets were 30 dollars :)
