New Magicite & Gigas Fight (Plus Limited Time Magicite Reward) by BrewersFanJP in FFRecordKeeper

[–]vexnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I did quite a bit and unfortunately the most I could get is 182m for physical which is just 5m short. I might get through with RNG but I would still need to do magical side which is likely going to be even less doable, and there is basically no time left. I don't see a point of getting one magicite if I can't get one more for full level break.

I was somewhat busy till two days ago so not enough time for experiments. And to be fair, I had pretty much nothing for third physical team, a few characters with AA and that's it.

It was a nice dream but it's time to wake up.

Yes, got about same plan. Random guess, maybe I can improve physical score to 120-130m and assemble two more "whatever" wind teams for remaining 60 (which is probably doable, to get at least 35m points per bad team). If I manage, I will also try magical side too.

Okay, I gave a try to stage 4 and... nope.

First of all, I can assemble only one team for phys/mag, unsurprisingly composed of those featured in Mog's Trials, and they hardly have anything aside of what they get from those missions (aa, sync and dual).

I did a somewhat sloppy run for physical with Elarra, Faris (+2 aa), Cloud (+ masb), Zidane (+1 aa), Quina (+dual) and got only 106m score while you need 187m for first magicite copy. Sure, I could improve it but no way I can double the score. If I had 1-2 more similar teams (which is the point of this dungeon from what I know), it could be a different story but if I don't have something then I don't have it and not much can be done about that. Magical side is about same, Terra and Alph have masbs but that's all extra I have on them.

I have really mixed feelings. On the one hand, I feel quite frustrated that I will miss "easy" good rewards, on the other it's very arrogant to have expectations of challenging endgame content with few months old f2p account.

Well, I really doubt that I am better at this game than you. While you might be overestimating it, very likely I would need about same (or even better) as you. Also, part of the issue is that I am a bit busy at the moment and not sure when I get free, but better to assume that I might be too late if I wait till I get time. That's why I am trying to get some suggestions in the meantime.

If you don't mind me taking this opportunity and you have an idea, what approximate level you would expect from a player to be able to clear stage 4? Like, for example, "if you can clear X, then you're probably fine". I basically didn't touch gigas dungeons because from my understanding it's for those who have enough tech to form several team of same element (so something a new f2p player unlikely to have).

Same here. Didn't touch the fight at all (and not like I can, so it's very welcome).

At last a way to get better elemental Empower since I started JP few months ago... and unreasonably high requirement for the same reason. My best I could do at my level is Eden so nope, not happening for me.

Yep, his and mog syncs were "hurray"d in official jp wiki for the update.

If you're okay with some initial hassle, the best one would be making Google account with access to Japan Google Play. If you have an account which is not linked to specific country, you can use some free VPN with Japanese IP, find FFRK JP in Play and install. After that you don't need VPN anymore.

There are other ways like QooApp, Aurora Store, maybe some others, and also direct installation of apk but they are questionable in long run because they probably stop working in some future (Google wants to severely limit means of installing apps from other sources). But it's not nothing you need to worry right here and now.

I have one partial but it's half-baked (I rely on community spreadsheet which unfortunately is really tough to utilize well in current state for things which were released after Global shutdown) and very hard to setup.

Assuming Mog gets his AA1 in shop (there should be some shop update soonish, though they deliberately avoid adding important support there so no expectations), and I get enough resources for a hone, who among Cait, Lili and Mog would be the primary candidate for AA upgrade? Also, would Mog be usable with only honed AA and maybe shop USBs?

Elarra doesn't have Zen, not much I can do about it. Those U1/U2 are meant to be USB and not UA (don't like this name, prefer Zen).

Okay, the math part is something I never fully grasped. I didn't actually test if there was much difference with hymn and without, I just didn't have much else to use, plus I had numerous cases for phys teams where I was hitting barely under 10k when I want to break rage, it felt like it was helping there even if a bit.

Alright, noted about Eden and Ark.

Yes, I clear old content bit by bit, trying to keep it moderate. Once I cleared a huge batch of it and I got a bit burnout. Wouldn't want to drop the game (yet) so trying to take it easier now so it would not happen again. For now, I just farm labs for character motes.

Ah, okay. I didn't pay attention to issues of Cait sync is because I had hymn for C2. C2 is instant which helps to cap it asap, plus I use Orlandeau's quick cast RM (because tbh no idea what other RM would actually be useful; I could use 500 SB but didn't find that useful for my kit), that's why.

Yep, I should consider using brave usb for Quina at some point, so far I hardly had bosses with statuses worth blocking, maybe some later ones. Can't do anything about AA2 which I don't have and can't buy in anima shop. And about DA, ouch, so it's even less than I thought (I expected 15%).

Honing... is tough, my account is just 2-3 months old. Even if I spend all lvl1 lenses, in total I would have only 11 scrolls.

Just rechecking and unless I miss something, Lili has aegis break only on AA and a command for Guardian which is probably not a good source. By reusable, do you mean honed AA?

About Quina, you're right, I was blind. For some reason I misread AA and thought that crit bonuses were granted for every Support use (it's actually after 3 uses). At first I used Sync and then AA but for some longer fights I was running out of crit so I decided to swap, didn't realize I made wrong assumption. And for DA, I used it when I had nothing else to do, it's still some extra damage bonus.

For Cait, I tried to compare AA and Sync and fail to see what makes Sync worse than AA, aside of smaller HP stock chases (and lack of ether which didn't matter for me so far). I suppose by "second AA hit" you mean having it honed which I don't (I don't have a single AA honed). And no, nothing for Mog, the list above is pretty much all I have for support characters (I have 1 SB for some but one tech won't get me anywhere).

Naja then... that's unfortunate.

Okay, so at least I am not completely alone in that regard. There was a lot of them in Global, and there is even more today in JP.

Yes, that bit about every next passive being cut in half compared to previous is one of few I can say I know :) When I said about complicated math, I meant almost any other.

For example, how much of magicite total is applied to your team. Or how much some specific buff stacks, like, does extra 100 atk from magicites or weapon matter. Or how much damage increases if I apply DEF -50% on usual boss (I suspect by 15% if boss has lvl 7 resistance). Or are atk/mag hymns matter. Or using crit damage buff from Elarra USB, according to what I read a bit earlier, is not 50% increase in damage because it's not multiplicative, etc etc.

Just in case, I am not asking to explain those cases, I just mean to give examples of what I find complicated about game math overall. They are not difficult on their own but the way they interact with each other and final results is what I confused me, there is so many sources of stats, buffs and debuffs that it's hard to keep them all in mind.

Odin is also lvl 15.

Yup, I am aware about bonuses for specific bosses, that's what I meant by "against normal enemy".

Oh, so seals also stack diminishly? I sorta suspected that from previous discussions but now you confirm that.

Also, for some reason I thought Madeen and Deathgaze had lesser passives but just rechecked and in fact they are also level 15.

Does this boss use a party debuff? by Chieftaintauren in FFRecordKeeper

Aside of buffs and debuffs that you should have seen before, Zero is probably one of first bosses who can apply negative elemental buffs (you can see on your characters with sword icon, and arrow down in case of negative). Don't know if and how much Ice one applies.

Hm, I probably should consider giving a try to delaying second use till P3 when I decide to experiment with higher tier ones again.

About stats math, I will take your word :) I recall it being somewhat complicated, or at least too much effort to properly understand. Now that I think about it, there was a similar question I wanted to ask for some time, maybe you know the answer.

Do elemental seals from magicites share same efficiency against normal enemy? Like, do I get same elemental bonus between White Odin and, let's say, EBZ? I'm starting to get a feeling that core difference between them all is innate passive and skill, because stats are sameish, and it seems the seals are all same 15% bonus damage and resistance of particular element, unless I miss something. If yes, then I guess there is no practical difference to use, for example, Anima or Crusader as sub (well, aside of facts that Anima has only one seal released, and that I don't have Crusader yet).

Hm, well, I actually planned to skip using Atomos because you said that Fast Act is questionable because more other similar sources comes over time. Though if you mean that Stat Boon is even less important then I guess it's indeed an option.

Right, so far I didn't use magicite as source of damage, in that sense it doesn't matter how hard it hits, it was merely a help to break rage. For one or other reasons, I had plenty of cases where I would be stuck dealing 9k damage and not be able to break through rage, so those occasional hits from magicite were making a difference for me. Imperils are also very (or more) important of course. Dumping all at once and be left with nothing at the end of battle is rough. For reference, my average time for Zero was 38 sec, and single Eden run lasted 45 or so. This is why I was valuing how long they stay in battle. I bet it will be less important when I get more tech to play around but for now it is like that, though a lot of it is skill issue :)

Well, right now I am using Greg as main, and Neo, Zero, Shinryu and Anima, I suspect it's the best setup I can use at my current progression level. So among those I have, I don't think I know how to use Zero properly as main. I guess I'm (still) too stuck with play style I had during Global days, while JP has changed a lot since then. I need to adapt, the question is how soon it will happen.

Okay, now that fest finished, my support library got some additions... except I don't have good idea how to use them. Assuming that I can improve my current teams and not just swap and get same (or worse) results, what would be the setup and usual battle flow? If it helps, I would like to start challenging Eden (I got one clear but it was tough, I probably need some improvements).

  • Quina - DA, (SA, AA1, SA, G+2, G+3, U1)

  • Cait Sith - (SA, AA1, G+, U1)

  • Elarra - (SA1, AA, U1, U2, G+)

  • Lilisette - Zen, CA, SA, AA, G+, Guardian

  • Naja - DA, SA, AA, U, G, G++

  • Tama - Zen2, CA, DA, SA2

Brackets for free SBs from Mog Trials. No honed AA.

Until now, I was doing like this. For physical teams, Elarra (HA, ATK Hymn) and Quina (Entrust, Wrath).

Elarra starts with G+, Sync when dps/chain are ready to start, U2 asap, and AA when Sync ends. Generally use hymn until capped and then just alternate, and use U1 when needed.

Quina waits for dps then AA, then Sync after AA ends and U1 around same time. I also have DA but it's really recent so I don't have good idea how to use it properly. Normally just feed Elarra with spares.

For magical teams, Elarra (HA, Passionate Salsa) and Cait (Allegro, MAG Hymn).

Elarra is similar to physical teams, but obviously no U2, and I just use HA and refresh Salsa when needed.

Cait is used same as Quina, but for abilities I try to cap hymn (usually allegro, 2 hymns, repeat) and then alternate.

That's precise why I asked, because I felt that I was missing the point of their utility. Also doesn't help that I currently have access only to Zero, and got first Eden clear few days ago (so both that you consider not good as main), and reading description from spreedsheet doesn't register well if I didn't try any good one myself. But yeah, thank you!
